MEGADOR
MSI GT70i7 4700mq32gb ramGTX 770mso far I've only been able to overclock my 770m to 1006mhz core, 2250mhz mem, and voltage 1.037v. I've seen some 770m's go as high as 1079 core and 2300 mem at the same voltage. I've tried upping the voltage to 1.05v but didn't help. Can I go further with the voltage in order to increase the clock? Is this as far as this GT70 can go? I've tried both Svet's Bios Tuner and SVL7's bios. funkyboy
I'm no expert but when it comes to overclocking there are no rules perfect. Video cards will not behave in the same way, so it is possible that your card is less fortunate than others. Be careful not to raise too much voltage and keep under control the temperature. now I leave the technical advice to most experts bye Fabio
MEGADOR
Ok after some more tinkering I was able to get these settings:core: 1037 (+175)memory: 5400 (+700)voltage: 1.050vi get a 4179 in Firestrike now!however with the voltage that high I actually get lower fps during gaming so I keep the voltage at 1.037v and drop the core down to +135. Memory stays at +700. I found that for some reason I had to step up each setting by +5 each test. For example if I tried to just use a +150 it would freeze. But if I stepped it up a little each test from +0-175 it wouldn't freeze. Since I did that I can just plug in my max settings and it works. Weird. Engineer91
Maybe you must add or modify your step performance in the vbios. For example one step first the P0 (max performance) at the max voltage and +mhz , you can raise also the voltage and frequencies of the preceding step, so you don't have the jump and, the freeze. MEGADOR
When running a game or a benchmark like 3D Mark, the voltage and frequencies stay at their constant max. So would editing the other P-states help? I haven't been running the OC via the vBios. I've been doing it with Inspector. Do you think running it via the vBios would make a difference in the stability of the higher clocks or is it the same no matter how you're overclocking? Bugii
i get a 4179 in Firestrike now! What's the difference in performance ? I mean ingame.Benchmarks are worthless since it rarely shows real-life performance. What's the difference in some games with and without this OC ? 2fps ? 10 fps ?I'd try to squeeze mine if it's worth the effort. MEGADOR
For reference I was getting a 3200 in FireStirke before overclocking. Here are some benchmarks. As you can see, overclocking is giving me quite the substantial gains.Oh and I tweaked my settings a bit more:Core: 1006 (+143)Memory: 5400 (+700)Voltage: 1.037v (+.037)BEFORE2015-02-16 09:31:02 - FarCry4Frames: 1887 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 31.450 - Min: 23 - Max: 39AFTER2015-02-16 09:33:05 - FarCry4Frames: 2369 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 39.483 - Min: 30 - Max: 5625% average gainBEFORE2015-02-16 09:39:01 - Vanishing of Ethan CarterFrames: 2474 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 41.233 - Min: 27 - Max: 57AFTER2015-02-16 09:41:42 - Vanishing of Ethan CarterFrames: 3039 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 50.650 - Min: 0? - Max: 7323% average gainBEFORE2015-02-16 09:52:51 - DragonAgeInquisitionFrames: 1930 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 32.167 - Min: 26 - Max: 42AFTER2015-02-16 09:54:28 - DragonAgeInquisitionFrames: 2382 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 39.700 - Min: 31 - Max: 5423% average gainTemps never pass 65c. But I do keep my fan running at 80% using Fan Control. Temps will go up to 75c if I also overclock my CPU since they share a heat pipe. I switch Physx to CPU (i7 4700mq) since it usually gives me a performance bump.
Bugii
wow, that's quite a lot. This definitely tells me more than "I get xxxx in firestrike"Thanks a lot!
seanymack
Hi MegadorHow did you get such high overclock and voltage adjustments? Was it a modified vbios?
MEGADOR
Yes, I use a modded Vbios. I had been using MSI Fan Control to force the fan to run at around 80%, however since I did a repaste job on the CPU and GPU the other day, I no longer need to use that tool. Temps stay around 75c on their own. Most games are stable with that overclock. A few games like AC Unity or Crysis 3 I have to back the oc down a little.
