jasonchang0213
So I bought a MX14 just about a month ago and just recently started having problems with it while gaming. Decided to reformat it after it kept freezing on every log in. But sadly, I don't have the driver disc installation that comes with the MX14 so pretty much I can't do anything atm, can't even go online (Pretty much its a fresh Windows 7 that can't really do anything). I called the support team of Alienware and they said it would be like a $80+ charge to get all the drives if they were to do it, or that I can do it myself with another computer and just save the drives onto a flash drive and transfer it over, but with a risk of frying the mother board. Any suggestions? And if I can download the drives myself, exactly what drives do I need? I looked over Alienware's downloadable drives and they seem to have alot, and I'm not entirely sure which drives I really need. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.My mx14 specs:Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.2GHz (3.1GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz14.0 HD (720p/1366x768) WLED backlight display and 2.0 MP webcam with digital microphone array3.0GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus technology1TB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive14.0 HD (720p/1366x768) WLED backlight display and 2.0 MP webcam with digital microphone arraySlot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner, DVD+-RW, CD-RWInternal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound AudioHELP!! svl7
Hi and welcome to T|I!Download the stuff from Dells support site, here's the installation order:1 - Chipset driver2 - Intel Rapid Storage driver3 - OSD application4 - Intel GPU5 - GPU (get this from Nvidia)6 - LAN (Atheros I think)7 - WLan (for the card you have installed)8 - Audio (Realtek)9 - Touchpad (Synaptics)10 - Card Reader (Realtek, on the M14x driver page in the chipset category)11 - Command CenterAh, I missed the USB 3.0 driver from NEC, install this as second driver. Always restart if asked during driver installation.I might have missed something, I don't have an M14x myself... @Stevenxowens792 should be able to correct me in case I messed up. Or any other experienced M14x owner.
