  1. It seems NVIDIA is getting to ready to release two new mobile Maxwell GPUs in Q2 2016, the GTX 970MX and GTX 980MX. With the company already dominating the high end notebook market and 14nm/16nm next generation GPUs on their way like Polaris, the timing of this release seems a little odd. Both GPUs will be positioned as slightly more powerful than their existing GTX 970M and GTX 980M counterparts with increased CUDA cores, texture units, and clock speed while retaining the same TDP. In addition to the aforementioned, the 970MX has 56 ROPs vs 48 in the 970M while the 980M and 980MX have the same 64 ROPs. WCCFTech created a table which shows the differences between the new GPUs and existing ones: Model GeForce GTX 980 Laptop Version GeForce GTX 980MX GeForce GTX 980M GeForce GTX 970MX GeForce GTX 970M GeForce GTX 965M GeForce GTX 960M Architecture Maxwell Maxwell Maxwell Maxwell Maxwell Maxwell Maxwell GPU GM204 GM204 GM204 GM204 GM204 GM204 GM107 CUDA cores 2048 1664 1536 1408 1280 1024 640 Texture Units 128 104 96 88 80 64 40 Raster Devices 64 64 64 56 48 32 16 Clock Speed 1218 MHz 1048 MHz 1038 MHz 941 MHz 924 MHz 950 MHz 1097 MHz Memory Bus 256-bit 256-bit 256-bit 192-bit 192-bit 128-bit 128-bit Amount of memory 8 GB GDDR5 8/4 GB GDDR5 8/4 GB GDDR5 3/6 GB GDDR5 3/6 GB GDDR5 4 GB GDDR5 4 GB GDDR5 Memory Frequency 7008 MHz 5000 MHz 5000 MHz 5000 MHz 5000 MHz 5000 MHz 5000 MHz Memory Bandwidth 224 GB/s 160 GB / s 160 GB / s 120 GB / s 120 GB / s 80 GB/s 80 GB/s TDP ~150W 125W 125W 100W 100W 90W 75W Table Source: WCCFTech There's no word on what the price will be for these new cards or what notebooks will feature them but if I had to guess, I'd say the usual suspects like Alienware, Clevo, MSI and Asus will be among the first to have these ready. 2. I finally got my 970M card and Flashed Bios and VBios on my NP9150/P150EM, However i have few question: 1. What and where can I get proper Nvidia Driver and steps how to install it? 2. i sow some modify drover file... what is that referring to? 3. I tired to play COD and I am only getting 15 fps so I assume that its not using right GPU. Please assist.
  3. Hi everyone, hopefully someone can help. I have successfully (to a fashion) installed a new 970m in my laptop, it is discovered in the BIOS and Device Manager. The card seems to run, I can see it in GPU-Z and the temperature and clock speeds are displayed in GPU-Z. Windows 10 installed the driver on it's own and I modded and installed the latest NVIDIA driver 361.43. I'm seeing a low score (lower than my 860m) in 3Dmark and a lower clock speed (540Mhz) instead of what I would expect (somewhere around 900). Guessing I need to install an earlier driver, the optimus switching isn't working on the FN+F5, but I'm not sure which driver to choose as the older recommended one doesn't show in the NVIDIA search. i7-4710MQ 16GB DDR3 PC3-12800 480 mSATA 256 SSD ST500 Hybrid SSD BIOS version A14. I've attached a screenshot from 3Dmark for reference. Anything else I can supply to help? Cheers
  4. Hi there! I - by chance - got hold of an Gigabyte P34w V4. As this small notebook is really getting hot, I am looking for a vBios modification with the goal to undervolt the 970m. Thank you and best regards phila
  5. Hello all, after successful upgrade from 670M to 970M, I want to eliminate high temperatures. I'm using 670M heatsink (I prefer to stick with it) which has been modded a little bit. GPU idling at 30-33 C. I hit 88 C in Far Cry 4, max settings. This is with the laptop sitting on the table. I will report back new temperatures after using laptop cooler. Does anyone have an idea how to bring temps down? (except new heatsink)
  6. As title says, 16F3 laptop here with 970M. Updated motherboard BIOS to support latest GPU's - success. Modded 670M heatsink to fit 970M - success. Card is MSI 970M 3GB. I can install drivers directly from Nvidia website, but there is a slight problem. I cannot make 970M run any 3D stuff. 970M draws 75W just like 670M. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit updated to May 2015. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  7. So I took the plunge, and bought a 970m. Got it all up and running, but the GPU is throttling in every game I try and run. Has anyone had this problem and been able to overcome it? So far I've... Tried a couple of different driver versions (345.20 and 347.88). Neither driver fixed the issue. Flashed with the slv7 vbios. Still the same issue. Reinstalled Windows 8, and tried the drivers again. Still not working. Tried forcing P0 P-State in nVidia Inspector. Nothing happens. Symptoms Using MSI Afterburner, the GPU load never goes above 50%. nVidia Inspector shows the P-State as P1 whenever I'm in a game, not P0. 3DMark11 score is only ~P4000 Specs Alienware M15x Core i7 920XM (standard clocks) GTX 970M 6GB with slv7 vbios 8GB RAM Windows 8.1 Pro (fresh install) 240W PSU Can anyone help? I'm completely stumped at this point... Thanks!
