  1. Yeah, with SSD rebooting is easy as.... pie?
  2. Ah nope, I'm overcrowded with work these days. Basically I only have time in the evening when I get home from the lab. I like the size and feel of the Mamba, definitely. I don't like small mice. Razer hasn't updated their firmware in quite a while (and there doesn't seem to be any indication that they will). In the worst case, I'll just buy another mouse. I just don't know which one - I was "window-shopping" Roccat mice. I'd go for Logitech G700 but I heard it has an annoying bug where the mouse doesn't move if you move it very little. If I do get a new replacement Mamba, I think I might just sell it. I currently use G7 at home - and while the surface doesn't feel as good as Mamba I definitely like it. Especially because I can actually use it on wireless _all_ the time.
  3. Desperate times... call for desperate measures. Really desperate.
  4. Very nice review. I just have 1 request, could you post pics of Pyra and Mamba size-by-size so we could see the difference? Thanks!
  5. Maybe it's just not meant to be. There's more fish in the sea.
  6. It's about the same as M11x-R3 - roflmao. Even tho the fan running at the lowest doesn't bother me much on R2, this is certainly good improvement. Glad to hear isn't some crap at least. It sounds like a good machine and a proper upgrade for R2 (apart from the screen).
  7. OK, freaking finally found it on their web: "Should you encounter any problems with your Razer product or any difficulty in downloading or installing the driver, please submit an email to techsupport at razersupport.com. To allow for more efficient assistance, please be sure to note the product you are having trouble with and give us an accurate description of your problem. The support team will get back to you within two business days. If you are a US or Canadian customer, you may also contact us at (888) 697-2037. Phone support hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm PST/PDT, Monday through Friday, excluding major USA holidays. See our warranty terms and conditions for more detailed information regarding our warranty policies." -- As what the problems are I had the problem before. And it turns out my friend who also uses the Mamba mouse has the same symptoms! It seems there's a bug with mouse occasionally bugging into just going up-down (or just stays frozen into place) every once in a while if you keep disconnecting and reconnecting it. What happened with mine, is that it now happens all the time, instead of just once every few months so it's unusable. I'll try and see if I can get Epic Naga instead, since it costs the same. As for my friend, it's the guy I gave the easter razer code to last year when Michael asked me.
  8. Hey, I was wondering if anyone here had experience with Razer Tech Support. My Mamba died (well sort of, it doesn't move left-right lol) and I've been trying to get some support, since it has 2 year warranty. After quite a bit of googling I managed to find this e-mail: [email protected] where I sent my inquiry but got no reply in 6 days. Anyone here has their phone number or anything? Their website looks like they really tried their best to hide their info.
  9. I thought this was cool (found it on Slashdot): Nvidia Offers Peek Into Advanced Design Evaluation - HotHardware
  10. This is one of those moments, when the old guy with thick mustache stands from the corner, approaches you with open arms and says with a heavy Italian accent: "Michaelo, welcome to da familia!!!"
  11. bifnewman, RGB LED screen has, as the name suggests, LED backlighting and therefore doesn't use inverter board that is found with CCFL backlit screens. See: CCFL inverter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . On the other hand from what I understand (don't exactly quote me on this): LED backlit screens have a LED board, which supplies less voltage because it's driving LEDs vs discharge in gas tubes. The cable for connecting each of these boards can be different, too. I'm not sure how exactly sure how is this made on M17x (I was doing a replacement like that on one Thinkpad; I was just going from LED to CCFL). Typically, the difference will be that on inverter you'll see a small transformer (a small fat coil) while the LED board won't have one. Put out some pics.
  12. I see the screen quality got up from 6.5 to 7.5. I like the unboxing video. I also agree with the media panel buttons. The capacitive ones on my R2 are really crappy. I noticed the VGA port is also gone. The green backlighting looks better than on M17x... or is it the same? Also, it would be nice to know how loud the fans are, compared to R2 (and R3 for example). Thanks!
  13. No wonder this forum rocks. Everyone here is (more-or-less ) mature. Btw, that ad is rofl.
  14. No idea who made it, but the movie was so full of cliches.... it could pass better as a parody movie tbh. Rorschach voice = rofl. It reminds me of few episodes of South Park when Cartman talked like that. On the other hand, it probably contains too much fake sex (or attempts of it) to be passed as a movie for kids.
  15. Does a DVD drive still work fine in that spot? If yes, it could be something funky with that caddy then?
  16. I saw Watchmen. Worst. Movie. Ever. lol...
  17. Ha, speaking of devil: Dropbox Accused of Lying About Security - Slashdot
  18. That's insane. We need Windows 8 adjusted to higher DPI too.
  19. Yep, it's not the best idea because of the static electricity. I would suggest a piece of cardboard or similar if you want to put it on something softer than the desk surface. The only place I used fabric is when I need to open the laptop and have it up-side down.
  20. The sequential numbers are crazy. However, I'm almost always limited by something else when I am just copying raw files from somewhere (typically it's my USB 2.0 or Gigabit LAN). What I'd like to see more, however, are newer SSDs with a bit higher 4K read/writes.
  21. Yeah forget about the internetz on subway, airplanes and most buses. But I see some of their points. It would be nice to have some of those features, like more secure browser. On the other hand, I feel one looses too much. I mean geez.... their OS has even less functions that iPhone/iPad OS. And that's something! Seems too netbookish.
  22. So Google apparently announced the release of this thing on June 15th. Google Chrome Blog: A new kind of computer: Chromebook Another report: Here's the Samsung one on Amazon.com: Amazon.com: Samsung Series 5 3G Chromebook (Arctic White): Computer & Accessories Interesting concept, but probably completely useless and overpriced for anyone who has basic knowledge of computers. 3G data plan with 100MB bandwidth? Seriously? For a gadget that's completely based on cloud storage? rofl. It just seems a lot like iPad + keyboard (which you can buy extra). Except that it doesn't have mad multitouch and an IPS screen. And btw lol @ 300-nit "SuperBright" display. Also, I'm not sure how the offline files will work but have fun whenever you loose or can't access the internet. ^^ There is barely information released on Google's website.
