can you just use the stock low power settings and put them in the vbios for ulps? does it ruin the switching from integrated gpu to 8970m ?

As an added note. I put the core up to 1ghz and ran 3dmark11 I got almost the same result of 7420 because the Damn card throttled to 944 on most runs. Put the core up a little more and the comp crashed. Guess it needs more voltage already ugh. Dont like the throttling! Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

you could be right. I know you cant just flash a 7970vbios. I should have gone into more detail. I read somewhere about possibly taking the vbios and modifying it to work with the 8970m. But thats not something i would do on my own. Unfortunatly as far as i can find there isnt a lot of support for these cards. and seems to be a lot more support for the 7970m. ati sure shit the bed in the beginning with driver reliability. what is the farthest so far that the core can be clocked to?

I know this has been brought up before and as some of you know, you currently cannot overclock the memory on a 8970m. doing so by even 1 mhz causes system freeze. has anyone seen a custom vbios or another solution to this. I read somewhere about changing settings in an .ini or something somewhere but that also made no difference. thanks for reading. sorry if there is a similar post already. (i know the 7970m is the same card and the possibity of maybe using that vbios)

well whether it works or not on mobile. it gave me an extra 100 points on 3dmark11 so im not complaining

Yes i did, and decided it wasnt really worth the cost plus i would want to upgrade the cpu and since im not too attached to my g53 im going to just upgrade in the next few months instead when hopefully some newer hardware comes out.

I cant find any info on the 1gb 660m, just the 2 gb. I emailed mxm nearing a week ago but havent heard back yet.

if thats the case i could just modify the the one onboard. then again getting a spare wouldnt be such a bad idea haha. i didnt think they were all that different except the screen pretty much. whats the cheapest route to getting a 660m?

I would love to do this. i currently have the g53jw. but only with the 740qm. both cpu and gpu are starting to show its age. would love to be able to oc the cpu as opposed to turbo boost and my 460m doesnt like to clock higher than 750 core without crashing. would love to do this 660m upgrade but unfortunately i live on the road for work and just dont have the tools to make this happen its looking like my only option is to upgrade around February when the new processors come out.

Voltage control is bios locked so I can't touch it. Also mine doesn't like to go over 750 core before crashing. Not really too concerned but would really like to overclock the CPU alittle on all streams as opposed to what turbo core does. It's just not that easy to do.
