I have the Last Top Model MBP from before the new ones. 15"  2.8Ghz i7 with 16 GB of RAM and AMD M370X and Intel Iris Pro.

GTX970 in an Akito 2 box.

I am not doing anything that is using Cuda cores... mostly just playing WoW with Graphics settings high. It has totally improved my performance though.  My fans never spin up anymore....

Well my MB is early 2011 so i will have a huge difference from your speeds :)

600 series will have native support under OSX (no script mods needed). For the later cards a bit of tweaking is necessary but you won't always get full acceleration under OSX. 10 Series cards are not supported at all under OSX. Pretty much all will work under Win in Bootcamp.

Hey Miller thank you very much for your reply, this means that if i get a 980ti i can have the drivers from the script right?

Is there a way to know how much of an acceleration i can get? I am not really interested in Win bootcamp actually so that i don't have to look for all my apps again for Win.

Kinda silly maybe question, the script is getting the drivers illegally?? :)

  3. Guys i'm sorry if my questions is far off BUT i was just chatting with the Nvidia support and i asked them for the drivers support for my macbook early 2011 ( i didn't mention using it externally maybe this was my mistake) but i was told that currently 900 and 10 are not supported with mac and the latest card for mac is the 680. I'm getting a bit confused though now =/ I've seen all these setups with 900 and 10 cards on mac.

  4. Thank you @Zoldago i 've been checking almost everything and i checked this one as well ( well still checking ) Its just that since i 've never tried anything like that and nobody has the same setup as me I'm not sure how to proceed and what to get / setup.

Thank you for your reply btw!!

  5. Hello guys i'm totally new here, but i want to but a graphics card but i don't know how to move. The purpose is to put it in an external chassis to connect through thunderbolt to my MBpro early 2011 to work with Premiere Pro. Is there a guide on what to look for? I was checking the nvidia gtx980 ti but then i also saw all these different companies.

    How should i pick?

    Thank you

  6. Hello everyone I'm totally new here, i've checking the forum the last days. I would like to ask for advise if someone has time to answer a few questions so that i get things clear.

I have a MBP late 2011 and i want to upgrade my graphics card. I get the feeling that everything leads to the Akitio but is there something else that i should check out? (except the bizon)
I was thinking of purchasing the gtx 980ti but what kind of power supply will i need for it?

    Is it a waste since i don't have thunderbolt 2 or 3?

Is it a problem that the case will be left open?

    Thank you
    Damien

*also i don't plan on using windows. I need it mainly for premiere pro on OS X!
