Yes, I think it looks ok. You can remove the other end and all wires not used and keep only one end to connect to the PSU. Use a needle to remove the wires from the connector. Disconnect the video card from the slot and remove the sonnet echo. Start the PSU with one fan connected to it and with a multimeter check all wires for voltages and see if all of them are wired properly. If all good, reconnect everything and boot again, before windows boot loader manager connect thunderbolt. If no sign of video card, cold reset a couple of times. But it should work if you test it a little. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

Hi Prema, just a quick question, is more like modding/programming question. How did you managed to register Fn+F1 as a shortcut and how did you turned the fan full blowing? Does this involves ACPI/DSDT? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

[REQUEST] Unlocked ASUS G750JZ BIOS 207
Arise replied to fejerm's topic in ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum
It would be no problem I guess to make those options accesible, but can you cmos reset the laptop in case something goes wrong? If the display will stay black what are you going to do? Because you might need do to a clear cmos by removing the cmos battery, and that means ypu have to unscrew the screws on the back and pop out the keyboard with the aluminium frame around it. For me, with Asus G750JW, iGPU is always off. I'm just saying there are options to turn it off in new series bioses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
[REQUEST] Unlocked ASUS G750JZ BIOS 207
Arise replied to fejerm's topic in ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum
Yes, the options are there, but you have to test this to see if it works. And the worst part would be that you have to do a blind flash or open the laptop and reprogram the eeprom if it fails and you get a black screen after you turn off the igpu in bios. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk -
You will not get much benefit as 780m is quiet a strong video card. Not much point in running an external video card attached to an external display when you have similar performance from 780m. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Easyflash is ok to use for original Asus bioses, winflash just needs to be uninstalled. When I moded my bios on Asus G750JW I used Afudos. Also, there is another part, the ME region, that can be dumped and wrote back. If you have any issue, or as an extra step of confidence you can dump the whole EEPROM chip, I used an old computer with a lpt port and for software used spipgm at that time. If you look here you can see 2 videos from the dump process and pictures how to build your own cable. Either my URL was removed by mods, or I fogot to paste the link, so there is no "if you look here". Send me a PM for URL or wait a little and I will try to move images from that forum here later today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Y510P screen brightness controls not working in OSX Mavericks
Arise replied to Techmaniaco's topic in Lenovo
Yes, you need DSDT methods to read and set screen brightness, but those alone won't work without efi string I guess in your case. So, besides Q0E and Q0F methods or PNLF device, you need to inject the efi string of your video card. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Y510P screen brightness controls not working in OSX Mavericks
Arise replied to Techmaniaco's topic in Lenovo
You should add a kext to let your fn keys interpret brightness , you need ACPI functions/methods in your DSDT and also you need to inject an efi string probably to get that working. If you look in preferences under display, do you have a slider to adjust the brightness? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Lets enable overclocking on all 6 and 7 series laptops
Arise replied to Khenglish's topic in General Notebook Discussions
According to this post Fugger seems to got more options in his XTU due to his bios(or ME). Extremely interesting would be the ability to change peg/dmi ratio, which is doing nothing for him anyway, but is a good start point for investigations. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?288099-Overclocking-CyberPower-Fangbook-4700MQ-Corsair-Vengence So next point would be to get a dump of his bios and ME firmware, right? Also it explains why I'm limited to 102.5 bclk with my discrete graphics, unfortunately don't know if I can really disable it with my integrated being disabled from factory. Nice. But did you at least tried running setup 1.3 from nando to recompact pci space or is this not working on macbooks? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You would need to make your own connector from ultrabay to pci express 8x (or 16x), but so far i've seen no succes on egpu area with lenovo y series. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
