  1. Im not realy sure why you would want to unlock the bclk instead of going only with the unlocked multiplier hack. For haswell the fine bclk unlock usually gives dissapointing rewards, like 1.5-2.5 max MHz, most if the times is not possible to do +4MHz extra like on sandy or ivy. The cooling system on my Y50-70 is not something impressive either. For multiplier unlocking you will have to downgrade the microcode just like dufus did in your bios, then write it back. You will then need to remove the intel mcupdate dll from windows, and using throttlestop (xtu will not work) you will have to apply the new multiplier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Half of this forum has an external gpu probably. Check the egpu subforum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You could search for a mobo or better for another laptop with thunderbolt. Anyway, can i get a bios dump? Would like to take a look. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hello guys, I've followed dufus own research and I've managed to unlock my Haswell mobile CPU (i7 4700HQ). I did a quick test run and I was able to do 4200MHz (x42 multiplier), by default, the CPU is supposed to overclock only 3.4GHz on all cores. At first attempt the CPU crashed, so I went back into Throttlestop and adjusted the core offset voltage +100mV just to stay safe. The only issue for now is how to keep the little beast cool, it jumps pretty quickly over 95 degrees celsius. So, the puny bclk margin we were able to achieve looks now pretty obsolete for Haswell mobiles, if we can do the overclocking as we should only from multiplier. The 4GHz validation is here:http://valid.x86.fr/ie08cd
  5. 4700MQ a 4th gen CPU. It is a Haswell CPU. Best way to start is to have access to the BIOS chip, and dump its content. You will have to experiment probably different mods, so is kinda important to be able to safely recover. Agreggating so many pci express ports is kinda complicated, provided your laptop has those ports. You better get rid of it and buy some thunderbolt 3 equiped laptop for a more elegant solution. 6. You can open your bios in andy tools and it will tell you the right recovery name you must use for home+ ctrl/power revovery. Cant remember if this works with 6 or 8 MB. Best would be to have the spi ptogrammer also available in case things go wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Yes, I understand. On my G750 i remember i had same locked descriptor but i was able to flash an unlocked bios and some setting turned the descriptor off for writing also ME region. And in your case, is just easier maybe doing this with a programmer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. You should be able to write bios region separately, with fpt you can write back only me part for example. You dont realy have to reconstruct a full 8 MB image unless you plan to see it nicely in fitc or want to write the chip using a programmer. Btw, this is me trying to dump the bios chips (there are multiple) from a gen 8 HP microserver. You can do same with a soic clip and 8 wires and a 5 usd ch341a programmer. 9. What did you have to do in order to enable the hidden chipset menu? I tried to enable it back then but no success. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Only 7 and 8 can upgrade to 10, vista and xp users are left out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Why not make the CPUs full unlocked (no limits on bins) than mess with a puny bclk percentage? Sent from my One Plus One using Tapatalk.
  12. Pulling cmos battery wont help, settings are stored in nvram, so you can't reset cmos/bios that way. In fact i think you can pull the battery and put it in a drawer, it will work the same with or without it. How did you managed to undervolt? One simple chance for you to reset nvram would be to try with one memory stick only or use other memory. Also what happens if you keep ctrl+home pressed and then press the powerbutton? You get a slight delay? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Yes, i think so, only the quality could be poor so you will have to dissasemble and make it "fit". Dont go second time cause you will have a non posting computer again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Are you saying you can access your bios screen, like changing the options? If that is the case, then disable secure boot and try again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. What you mean? The ponoma soic clip is required to clamp it on the pins of your bios chip, you need that anyway... For flashing you can go with: Lpt port + 4 rezistors + spipgm.exe Or a small ch341a programmer or something more expensive like a buspirate, etc with its own software Or you can also do it with a raspberry pi, resistors and flashrom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. @jacobsson: i've dumped my bios chip using 4 wires with 4 resistors connected to the lpt port of a computer. Spipgm.exe application used. To connect to the bios chip I've used a ponoma soic clip. Videos: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCzlAauJKOEswcaaOJ7Kws1g Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. There is also an alternative I guess, with a SPI programmer you dump the BIOS chip and it also has your ME firmware, so you can open the dump in FITC. Later edit: Unless someone proves me I'm wrong I would say BIOS settings are kept in NVRAM, so if you mess something you can't recover. Removing BIOS battery won't help, don't know what it is used for, my battery is somewhere in a drawer, forgot to put it back. So, before messing with BIOS or ME, please make a BIOS backup with a SPI programmer. Just in case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. My G750JW required no hardware mod like shorting any pins or so. Only had to run the proper version of fpt and that was it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. My Asus G750 and some Alienwares have a NVRAM to store BIOS settings, removing the CMOS battery does nothing for me. In fact I forgot to install the CR battery back in slot like 3 months ago and it sits on my desk. Laptop has absolutelly no issue without CMOS battery. The only option would be to reset the NVRAM area of BIOS chip, either by removing components and reinstalling until it happens or by rewriting the BIOS chip with another BIOS that will clear it out. 20. Hey @Tech Inferno Fan, what am i supposed to do exactly? Never made the full guide here cause i never managed to boot directly into windows in a clean way, without disabling the dgpu, and reenabling it later. Still not satisfied with the result.
  21. I use fakeSMC with hwmonitor to see the frequencies and temps and fan speeds. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
  22. You only need to connect everything and boot with the card connected, the card should be visible to the system after POST sequence. Do you have setup 1.3? Is the card spinning its fans, any lights maybe? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
