Sorry can't help you with the fan issue. Connect it to an external display and then go to diagnostics, that's how I got mine working.

The fan is not p&p. you have to mod it, cut the tabs, and find a way to secure it.

Sorry about the late reply mate, did you find a solution? 3Dvision will not work with the internal display. However It DID WORK with an external 3D screen.

It's very disgusting what's happening to the computer industry. We have one company controlling GPUs, other controlling CPUs, and OEMs who's only wish is cutting costs and filling their pockets. I won't hold my breath for AMD either, It's a lost cause brothers. Lost cause indeed. (4870x2 was my last AMD product, it performed great, doubling the E bill and almost setting the house on fire ) I SAY LET IT ROT/RUST. As far as I know it's an issue with mobile Maxwell GPUs, Prema told me it has to do with MOSFETs reaching their limit. More over, the 980M was supposed to have 6 MOSFETs instead of 3. Max I could get was 1402Mhz where I was able to barley pass the Steam Oculus VR tool. Firestrike seemed more sensitive and black screened more frequently.

Perhaps a 1970 Challenger? My R4 is stock black. Nothing to showoff. El cazador makes me want to get a Clevo and repaint/decal the sh*t out of it! Perhaps when they offer SLI desktop cards??

1- You have to download a driver with a modded inf. ->>> Since yours is a 120Hz display, get the PEG inf. 2- Disable driver signature enforcement , then install driver.

Cheers mate, I don't know what Nvidia did this time but for me it's the best driver for my setup. Better than 352.84. OC'ing is more stable with this driver, temps are ~2°C cooler. Also both CPU/GPU fans quit on me, waiting for replacement

Nope, Plug & play, no modding, nothing. Just make sure to get an original adapter, got a fake/defective one from Amazon then I bought the original from DELL.

My 240W PSU couldn't power the 3940XM + 980M for long sessions, the computer shut down on me also PSU would get very hot to touch. The 330W is great, huge OC potential.

Is it constant 30Fps (capped/limited)? try changing vsync settings. If the fps keep going up & down then you have throttling. Report back.

Perhaps a clean install would be better. If you decide to start new: 1- Change Bios settings to UEFI / disable fast start/ disable legacy rom / disable secure boot. 2- Install Win 8 or 10 from a media of your choice. 3- Since you booted with pure UEFI, Windows setup will probably format your drives to GPT. 4- After the setup completes, shutdown the computer, unplug the adapter and battery. (no need to remove the CMOS) 5- install the 980M 6- install the new display 7- turn on the computer, disable DSE 8- install modded drivers 9- Enjoy!

I'm running stock A13 BIOS. Why do you want an unlocked BIOS?

I don't think you should worry about damaging your screen, It was mostly caused by EVGA Precision. Driver 352.84 is best for Windows 10 (throttle-free), same thing for 353 on Windows 8. If you can wait a bit more to grab the 980M you won't regret it , the performance is extremely good and overclocking headroom is huge.

Only Maxwell cards (9XX series) need Win 8 / 10 + UEFI. Kepler cards will work fine with Windows 7 under Legacy (no need for UEFI). My advice is to stay away from the 880M it's a disaster.

The 3940XM will work with the R4. I'm using the original 2-pipe heat sink + IC diamond paste + M14x R2 fan mod. OC'd @ 4.1 GHz on all cores and temperatures are below the 90c Mark.

Are you overclocking? I used to have crashes every now and then, GPU-Z showed PCI-E x2 instead of 16 so I re-seated the card, cleaned the MXM socket on both MB and card. Everything is great now , running SVL7 vbios + 352.84 ( OR 353 for win8)

SVL7 vbios runs undervolted + IC diamond 7 paste + HD3 Gaming cooling pad.

Mine idles around 29-30 but only with fans on full blast with the fans off I get 47c. I'm running SVL7 vbios 1.000v
