My wife and I had a $500 limit on our debit cards I didnt know about until I went to buy a tv with it. $700 tv and 3200 in the bank, I thought wtf. I called the bank and found a teller that said I must of asked for it (my wife??) and she pleasantly removed it. Was embarrassing to be in a line with a big ass tv and card gets declined like 5 times. Stepped out of line and was on the phone for all of 5 minutes and got it fixed. So you may want to check on any purchase amount limits.

They have confusing verbage on their website but it will short a board. (While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths. My temps are actually creeping up by about 2-3 degrees now after about 150 hours of medium duty cycles, off -on , idle- pushed hard. I hope it levels off soon, I was expecting a drop after burn in.

I repasted my GPU's 4 times until I got it right. Used AS5. I did the retaining clip mod and tweaked screws everytime for optimal temp. 1. pea size dot - system actually ran hotter than factory paste. 2. pea size dot, credit card spread - Reallly bad, system got super hot. 3. grain of rice spread, spread thicker - still too hot, idled at 55-60 max 105 4. recreated factory glop , 3 grains of rice next to each other - finally! Max low 80's idle 39-42 Not sure why it wanted so much, I wasted 3 tubes of as5 experimenting with different amounts and viewing the contact patch. I had to keep any excess cleaned off as AS5 is capacitive and can short out. I still feel like I have too much as i'm sure I'm getting some sweater effect, but I'm happy with the temps so I'm not screwing with it.

M17x 5870m Vbios Version Can anyone tell me what the updated vbios version for the 5870m is from Dell? I have had so many laptops replaced I don't remember if I flashed this one or not. Big waste of time if I already did it. I have version 012.020.000.027.037640 according to gpu-z.

Are you comparing the same procs in these gaming comparisons? Because we know sandy gives a huge advantage. I could go to a 2870qm and 4870m's and probably see a performance improvement (or at least hold steady) because of the proc boost.

I think my cooling issues are gone now but I was very nervous about getting a replacement. On the other hand I have read users are getting M18x's for replacements on M17x's. I dont think theyd give me my money back if my system dies after a year.

Pardon me if this exists already but I'm looking for a central place for owners to post issues they have had with getting service on their system or problems so bad they have needed a replacement/refund. If were having major widespread problems, others can find out here.
