Hi, I have both an M14xR1 and an AW14 here, and when I plug my M14x into the TV the audio "just works" over HDMI to the TV, not so with the AW14. Video is fine, but audio just comes out of the internal speakers. I'm probably overlooking a simple setting somewhere, any ideas? Thanks.

I'm having an issue with my subwoofer as well. Was it just a poor design/bad batch? I'd purchase a replacement but if it's just going to blow out again I suppose I'll just skip it.

Sounds like a lot of people going with the Samsung Evos, I just put one in my nearly 3-year old M14xR1. Couldn't be happier with this laptop, except for the fact that the Alienware 14 I bought for my GF has a touchpad that lights up completely. I'm a bit jealous of that, but really prefer the keyboard on mine, even if the keys do touch the screen a bit when the lid is closed...

I seem to recall some driver support issues with going to 8.1 on the M14xR1. Does all of the AlienFX functionality still work? Just installed an Evo 250GB myself and liking it so far.

USB video adapters will work but the performance and stability are nowhere near as good as the internal video card. Good if you really need more displays, though.

Just bought a 250GB EVO SSD for my M14xR1 and it's working flawlessly.
