  1. Well done chief. The memory plays a lot on the physics score - also the more quantity you get, the lower the physics score is (probably due to the bad timings/latencies of the 8gb ram) - Do you have any benchmark scores (3dmark11/Vantage) Khenglish ?
  2. Everything's going according to the plan Ton
  3. Thanks a lot ! Will def try that ASAP ! Great to read also +rep dude!
  4. IMO budget wise, get a 4GB 680M if you want to run a single card setup or a xfire 7970M for bi-gpu system ! SLi680M is a bit pricey to my liking.
  5. You simply can't Though you can in the new MSI GT60/70 series with the unlocked BIOS; check this here: MSI GT70 Unlocked BIOS (latest 10M, non-RAID)
  6. Power circuitries are different between EM and HM - also for having tested and overvolted both 7970M and 680M in different MSI barebones (15/17"), I can tell the power consumption has been decreased a lot from 40nm to 28nm process, though voltage is high by default and when you overvolt, you're pushing both your GPU and MOBO (DC capacitors), even PSU to act out of tolerances. I had few shutdowns with my 180w brick when I started to play at high clocks - upgraded to a 230w which has an extra +.5v, and all good now!!!! Temps are also great (max GPU temp reported @ BF3 MP is 84°c, no turbo fan)
  7. ASIC quality is crazy I admit, I got 97.5% so not sure if that's really a good indication Use the V2, I think this is the most stable - I'm using the Saltius vbios which has a slight lower voltage.
  8. That's correct iaTa: Saltius vbios is 1.037 then 1.012v. SVL7 vbios is 1.05v then 1.037v. I'm using Saltius vbios this one already generates a huge extra heat compared to the stock Clevo vbios (0.987 then 0.962v)
  9. I tested the unlocked Clevo vbios (stock voltage) - you will hit a wall with over 867mhz+ on the core, the performance will significantly decrease which means a voltage bump is necessary
  10. Both Dell and Clevo 580M works fine in the 16F2 - I've tried both and there are no throttling issues at all if you use Throttlestop. Indeed as Xonar said, they draw a lot of power especially if you overvolt them - 180W PSU is required and I'd suggest 220W PSU if you plan, as I did, to overvolt the gpu for 24/7 gaming use.
  11. @svl7, If I could ask you a last thing (I always say this) - could you possibly overvolt the Clevo 680m vbios as you did with the MSI 680m's, perhaps with different voltages so we can bench as high as bloody Meaker/Brian - thanks dude.
  12. I haven't had time to run some proper games/benchmarks with it - I got some white plastic canvas/mesh from eBay (had to paint it) and just cut a rectangular piece that I sticked with 3M double sticky tape - for the hole I just used a circular cutter and then filed it so it looks the business. Though I think my hole is too big, on the next panel I'll make it smaller.
  13. You've got a M18X can't be compared to a MSI NB ! Though @ 1037/2500 @ BF3, max GPU temp was 81°C here (MP, 32 players Bazar, 30min of play) - but now should be even lower with the bottom panel mods:
  14. I've also got random crashes @ BF3 with svl7 1.037v vbios (@1037/2500) - also using 304.79 temps are OK (80c) - if you could elaborate, i'd be quite keen on knowing if the drivers are really the culprit or just my clocks are unstable with this vbios. I also tried to lower clocks and same crashes are happening (1000/2400).
  15. I will guys when I got some spare time Xonar ! I also want this 680M to work in the 16F2, believe me For the throttle, yeah this is actually my only run where the CPU did throttle - a normal run would be this: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Genuine Intel® CPU @ 2.70GHz,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1762 score: P7840 3DMarks Though you can see that my GPU score decreased - everything has been tested with TS 5.0b3. Will try to fit an i5 CPU and see if my Graphics score increases.
  16. During the 3dmark11 run, temps were hovering around 70-72°C, this was with the 1.037v vbios. Though I think there is a glitch - I've never been able to reproduce this score which basically has a high Graphics score and a very low Physics score for a 3820QM. The next benches shows the normal Physics 9000 but Graphics score lower 7900 - P score is 7850. Will try to game for a long period whenever I got some spare time and keep you updated!
  17. Clevo and MSI 680M are exactly alike by the looks of it - and they are monster in these barebones - check that in my MSI GT70 barebone: GTX680M overvoltée a 1.037v - 1037/2550mhz: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Genuine Intel® CPU @ 2.70GHz,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1762 score: P7956 3DMarks
