Does anyone have any info on whether or not the 17-4900qm has the same heating issues. I was under the impression that both cpu's were relatively similar..with a few exceptions.

I was just curious if there is any revisions to the heat sink and how well the card held up to throttling issues. Also curious about average temperatures of the card while gaming. Thanks in advance for any info you guys might have...

Hey everyone, Glad to be joining the forum. I have been into gaming for quite a while but just recently I have started to get into PC gaming. I just purchased an alienware m17 i-7-4900mq and gpu= gtx 780m. I was just looking through the forum and saw some great ideas for overclocking my gpu, but have been unable to download the bios needed. I guess I might have been restricted because I have not posted enough on the forum. Either way, if anyone has any idea or needs any help feel free to hit me up.

is the throttling issue a problem for all models of this comupter? both the r3 and r4 ( m17x?)

From my experience, i believe the thermal pads are not on correctly, or as said previously there might not be enough paste/ it might not be pasted in the correct areas. Worst case... the card is toast from getting to hot, but I doubt that honestly.
