If you don't mind turning overclocking off. it helps a lot (for me anyways) and I never get temps over 80C. Without going through the BIOS, you can "turn off" overclocking by setting your maximum processor state to 99% for whatever "Power Option" you choose. It will help with the temps, and repasting certainly does help, however you'll get slightly lower speeds.

is alienware m14x worth buying or not?

If you plan on going with the R1, an "easy" fix to the overheating CPU is to set the maximum processor state to 99%, which essentially turns off overclocking. Rather than going through the BIOS, you can create 2 identical "Power Options" profiles and then set one to 99% and one to 100% and switch it on aand off for games that cause your CPU to overheat. Doing this my CPU has never gone over 80C. It used to go up to 100C. Just a thought if you're still considering. -
There is a "subwoofer" that breaks if you play your speakers at high volumes... I think mine broke within a week of use. Chances are this is your problem as it was with mine. While cheap to repair buying off of Amazon (or anywhere else).. You need to take the whole computer apart to replace it, but if you can do it easily if you are comfortable taking your laptop apart.

I found a few at my local computer store at cheap prices, however you can just search on ebay. Tons of them if you shop online.

I've been using the Logitech G35 for my laptop and I'm very impressed with them so far. The Mic quality and sound in game is fantastic... However, they aren't the best for music. I bought them on Amazon for ~$100. Although you can go with its wireless brother, G930
