  1. @mackhunse well as you said, it may be the game. I admit that I don't play a lot of games, but I used these numbers for over 6 months while playing dota2. Each time the chart in nVidiaInspector reaches the designed OC limit, so the game pushes the gpu's at max.

What I am trying to say is that I OC-ed and both cards ran ok, no crashes with stock voltage and the temperatures went as high as 72 degrees Celsius.

Also BF4 has a lot of issues going on with NVidia drivers, I see like 100 of users bashing the GeForce forums because of this.

  2. It's funny how right-clicking the new start button has so much more functionality than the left-click.

Shhh! You will unleash the hell with words like that. They will come at you that it doesn't have accessories or programs or some other utterly stupid menu.

The start menu how it is now in 8.1 is damn good. It was even better in 8 because there was no freaking icon. Just seamless integration with the desktop, but nooo...people wanted the button.

  3. I accidentally downloaded the upgrade, and now I'm stuck with Windows 8.1. About everything in this OS is worse then windows 8. WiFi chip malfunctions, and SLI is disabled. I tried the official fix for the SLI, but no luck for me. And I finally decided I will very soon upgrade my bios to replace my WiFI chip.

In the end, if you're running 8 and its fine, dont upgrade I'd say.

If you are having problems without making a little research, cause there is a fix and it works for everybody, don't think that 8.1 is worse.

I am running on 8.1, no issues so far, SLI is working, WiFi is working (I am using it all day at work). Sound is ok too..

  4. 2Florin, i don't understand you.. at the moment I have Lenovo Y500 with the BIOS v2.02 unlocked and "Y500 - Y400 - SLI 650m - 80.07.27.00.33 - OC.ROM" this bios for the second GPU, that is all I can overclock the GPU.But on windows 8.1, you must update the BIOS to the second GPU earned SLY, but to my knowledge when updating the BIOS second GPU it can not overclock.

    Okay..but look what you wrote:

On a laptop y500 with built-in windows 8.1 sli mode does not work. Need to update the BIOS from the site Lenovo from October 28, = (

You said it does not work, you did not mentioned anything regarding OC.

  5. @Satenex, yes it works. You have on support.lenovo.com for Y500 the vBIOS update for the second GPU 650M. Also you have the vBios leaked here. Did you performed all these steps?

I will honestly advise you to upgrade your bios to the 2.04 modded one from slv7 then flash the leaked vBIOS for the 2nd GPU.

  6. Yes, saw the thread on forums.lenovo.com, was just about to let people know but you took the lead rune-d :) Well done.

People who will go with the official way please let us know if it is the same vBios as the leaked one.

I haven't downloaded the files from Lenovo.

  7. The boot takes long because you are on Legacy instead of UEFI. You can read it on the forum how to proper use your license that's embedded into BIOS.

You just need GPT partition for installing Windows 8 not MBR. Search it on the forum, I wrote it on several threads.

  8. To klebs:

I have the 2.04 modded bios by svl7.

I flashed with the same steps that are in the tutorial of svl7, the leaked vBios for the 2nd GPU (so not directly in Windows, I made the bootable dos USB stick)

You cannot overclock it, it stays at 790Mhz, the memory can be OC but the frequency not.

I don't know how you were able to OC the frequency of the 2nd GPU.

I can OC the 1st GPU past 135mhz frequency (because of the 2.04 modded bios) but not the frequency of 2nd GPU.

  9. the vBios for the 650M locks the speed of the gpu :)@svl7 maybe you can customize their ROM so that we can OC the second GPU too?

With this leaked ROM and Nvidia driver 331.58 Y500 can be a king again. Steam games work ok, we only need the OC and we'll be fullly happy! :D

Warning! Please check the following: After flashing their ROM the AC adaptor makes noises while I use the laptop. For ex: When I scroll it makes small noises like sparkling electricity. Also I don't know for sure how it was before, but it looks like the AC heats up a lot!

  10. Yeah, that ManuelG guy is annoying, he always blames others and makes only empty promises... Lenovo can't just release a new vbios, that's all up to Nvidia.

True or not, this thing made Lenovo answer on their forum, and they will look into the problem. If it will be a new vBIOS or some new driver from NVidia that can fix things we don't know, but at least is a step forward.

  11. @noesges97 it depends by your budget. Over 180Gb SDD are pretty expensive in comparison to HDD, so it's better to know how much are you willing to pay.

I have the 256Gb Samsung SSD 840 Pro Series. I paid 190 euros. It works very well.

  12. I don't know what "massive improvement" you are talking about because I get the same performance in demanding games such as BF3 and PS2 when running them in borderless windowed as I do in fullscreen. If you're having performance drops it's probably because you're on Windows 7 and need to turn Aero off for the windowed application or because the CPU priority is too low and needs to be increased in Task Manager.

You were being presumptuous; there was no attitude or malice in my post, only a little humor which obviously went over your head. And you're a hypocrite. You have no right to tell me what to do when you yourself are insulting and condescending in other threads like your Windows 8 apologist one.

Please try to be polite or a little less aggressive.

Regarding my post, most of the people I saw, and I'm not the only one, someone else posted the same thing, encounter performance loss in steam windowed mode. Also if you check steam community you will find that window mode gives less performance. Anyway full screen clearly is better.Btw I'm not using Windows 7, I'm on Windows 8.1. I don't know where you got that, you can't assume something out of the blue and come with a solution, so your post is irrelevant.

  13. What "pesky SLI issue" are you referring to? And which R331 driver is this? 331.40 Beta came out 3 weeks ago and 331.58 WHQL was released today.

Also you should probably change the title of this thread to something more relevant. I know R331 is the driver branch, but it just looks like l33tsp4ak.

@octiceps try to be more gentle in your affirmations, you can address users with normal attitude. How he address the driver was ok, look what GeForce experience showed me today: post-15694-1449499628467_thumb.jpg

What he is saying that the WHQL 331.58 has fixed the SLI issues regarding Vsync bug on Steam (CS:GO runs fine on SLI now, Dota2 should run fine <- this is what they are saying on Nvidia forum). I know that you are using the game in windowed mode, I won't explain it to you why again people choose to run game full screen (because obviously there is a massive performance improvement).
