  1. Oh yes, I see a lot I also see all the guys on that forum who re-host my bios mods, remove the "read me" file I included and give no link to the source or credits at all... I didn't notice a big difference between 306 and 310 driver when it comes to benchmarking. 1292MHz is very high for that chip. Do yo have a 3dM11 link for that result?

Nvidia 'Kepler' GPUs - modified VBIOS files >>> NOTE: More versions (including voltage mods) exclusive for T|I users can be found in the second post. <<< The 'Kepler' GPUs from Nvidia perform really well, even at increased clocks speeds they stay quite cool - a perfect behavior when it comes to overclocking and improving the performance. Unfortunately the mobile GPUs suffer from an artificial +135MHz core overclocking limit, so you can't go higher by using tools like Nvidia Inspector and similar. The modified VBIOS files listed here have this limit unlocked, some have increased stock clocks or tweaked voltages. Just refer to the description. Compare x1.1Opt vs x1.2Opt results at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2109-diy-egpu-experiences-%5Bversion-2-0%5D-20.html#post30509 and http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2158-diy-egpu-guide-sony-vaio-vpc-z2-svz13.html#post27918 . The doubling of bandwidth b/w pci-e 1.x and pci-e 2.x adds a considerable amount of extra real-game FPS. There's supposedly a modded bios that can switch the dGPU off on your L502x so with the PE4L 2.1b it may not even need to boot via Setup 1.1x. The PE4H 2.4 woud require booting via Setup 1.1x to downgrade the mPCIe port link from pci-e 2.x to pci-e 1.1x speed. The extra performance and easier installation are reason why I'd recommend offloading/returning the unopened pci-e 1.x capable PE4H-2.4 and getting a pci-e 2.0 capable PE4L 2.1b instead.

  6. First and foremost I want to thank Tech Inferno Fan for all his dedication to this DIY project, and the many threads he maintains. It's not easy maintaining your composure across so many threads on the internet. That pretty much makes him a demi-god. I had been following the thread on NBR for a while (not sure about the whole banning debacle, but I don't delve into that)and came here when I saw the links. Now on to the flesh of the matter. My notebook is the Dell XPS 15 L502x, i7-2760qm, 8GB mem, GT540M gpu (Optimus), and has a free mPCI-e port. The GPU that I bought is the Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti OC 2GB ($120), and a Cooler Master Extreme 2 Power Plus 625W (12V1 @ 24A) ($40) [both were on sale]. I currently have a PE4H-PM3N (from HIT) in the mail. I had read many, many, many pages on the NBR forum before finding out that the PE4L gives better performance due to PCI-e 2.0. But by that time, it was too late: I had already ordered the PE4H package. In realistic numbers (say, in-game FPS), how much of a performance drop is PCI 2.0 vs 1.0? I understand that I will be able to do, at max, Opt 1.1, with the PE4H and I'm fine with that. I just wanted to upgrade my GPU from the GT540M to something capable of running games at framerates higher than just 30 fps at med settings. I've also inquired with HIT if I can exchange the PE4H for the PE4L, but I have yet to hear back from them (I only just inquired today). I've been assembling my own gaming rigs for years. That said, I'm actually not too well versed in the differences in performance between stuff like PCI-e generations; I've only just gone with what's standard for the time. Thanks in advance!   8. Here is the detail of the correspondence. I know it's a legitimate set of emails because it was originally a reply to the paypal record they had of my purchase. I am not likely to return my board because it's working fine for my purposes and is used for a mission critical machine in my business. This is sad if they are stopping production. Since this item is engineering sample which hasn’t got final approval yet, and there are still some compatible issues existed between MacBook and them.   9. little update: i ad ordered the heat sink with a random dell sells person. i never received a confirmation as i was supposed to..... , so i just went and tried with my dell representative at our company "we sell lots of dell laptop" . and bing bang , 2 minutes after i received confirmation, 3 day later , email saying its shipped , and today i received it!... i paid 29$ CAN for it!!! later on i am going to install it, with Artic Silver 3 paste. look at the size of this box!

Nvidia GTX 870m: 'OC edition' -> see above Nvidia GTX 860m (GK104 variant): 'OC edition' -> see above. Refer to the file name to know which version is suited for your system. NOTE: Only for the Kepler version of the 860m.
