  1. New Clevo version added, 915MHz default clock, clocks adjustable, slightly undervolted. Let me know how it performs. Seems to work pretty well on my system, but haven't tested it for a long time. Grab it in the second post.

  3. I ordered the M18x-R2 triple pipe CPU sink from Alienware last week and today it finally arrived. Since I had a new palm rest + control cover sitting around to install, I figured I'd get them all out of the way at the same time. Initially I was a bit skeptical about how it would perform vs the 2 pipe CPU sink I already had since the 2 pipe CPU sink has thicker pipes vs the 3 pipe one. However, after installing it (and sticking with the Dell thermal paste), I was simply blown away by the results! The 2 pipe CPU sink with FRESH MX-4 running at 4 GHz would often yield temperatures ranging from 92-98C and was simply not feasible for daily use in this hot Arizona weather so I had to drop my clocks to 3.8 GHz. However, with the 3 pipe CPU cooler, this has all changed and I think I can easily go above 4 GHz. The best part about this upgrade is that the CPU does not throttle to base multiplier after extended use, instead it stays at a constant 4 GHz so performance is markedly improved with sustained load times. Here's some installation photos + comparison shots of the 2 pipe vs 3 pipe: Performance and temperature at 4 GHz: M18x triple pipe cpu cooler part number: 0MXJ5, cost is around $32. 4. I have already post a warning at page 45 http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/1847-nvidia-kepler-vbios-mods-overclocking-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks-45.html @killer: just wait , it could be in the "blinking underscore" state during minutes(i know it could be long ...) then the laptop will continue the boot process, and you can flash your card back on windows. @SLV7 The P150HM don't have iGPU support. I think it's probably a bios issue, cause the laptop boot and display the bios information, but after that, there is a problem during the power on self test, then three beep and blinking underscore, but by chance (or because i was a little desperate, after waiting 5 or 10 minutes, then the laptop continue the boot process). I think/hope that it will do the same with Killer. I think it will be a good idea to warn PXXXHM owners that this vbios is not compatible with their laptop, on the first page of the thread.

  5. Intell Centrino-N 6300 wont work with this modded bios, it's install, looks like everithing well, but can't connect to any wireless AP. I modified bios by replace some not used DEVID with 6300 DEVID and card run in proper. Here is zip with ROM and InsydeFlash Y580_n6300wifi_whitelisted.zip

  7. Well, I eventually found out how to run the command line stuff, but I kept not getting any resulting 36 bit memory. After working for hours trying to fix all the errors/warnings with my DSDT, and repeatedly overriding my DSDT, I finally went back to see if I missed anything on the front page. There, I discovered that since I have either a dGPU or iGPU (with no HD GPU) with TOLUD of 3.0GB, I don't need the DSDT override. (facepalm x2) All right, now to find an external monitor to start this bad boy up.

  8. Yeah, I think I know why this is happens. This has nothing to do with the BIOS itself, just with the settings in there, and with missing drivers. For secure boot and fast boot the legacy boot options need to be disabled, right? (Otherwise secure boot wouldn't make a lot of sense...) If legacy option roms don't get loaded your system can't access the dedicated GPU, cause it won't find the vbios. Dell hasn't released an UEFI compatible vbios for the AW series so far, so all you can do is either allow the legacy oroms, or you wait for Dell to release a new vbios which includes UEFI compatible software. Clevo already has it, seems Dell is a bit behind on this. A BIOS update won't help in this case, you need a different vbios.
