  1. Asus MarsII QuadSLI Build by ConkersGrillforce1337 Asus MarsII Initial Build In late October 2011 I and some of my friends built the system for the first time. It was the first time I ever built a desktop system. Components: Asus R.O.G. Maximus IV Extreme-Z Intel Core i7 2600K G.Skill RipjawsX 4x2Gb, 1866Mhz, CL9 ASUS MARS II Quad Sli SH100S3Kingston HyperX SSD 240GB + WD VelociRaptor, 10'000rpm, 600GB Enermax MaxRevo 1500W + Corsair AX850 Corsair H100 + Kingston HyperX Cooling Fan Black Plextor PX-LB950SA Aerocool Strike-X Panel Logitech G19 3x Dell UltraSharp U2412M The build process was associated with some unforeseen problems. Especially the assembly of the upper psu and the Corsair H100 CPU cooler with lack of space. After some hours and several tries the system started to work. The result was that the lower MarsII had not a permanent 100% connection to the PCIe interface. I knew Asus recommended the Asus Rampage 3 Extreme to MarsII QuadSli users, fortunately at the same time the successors of the LGA1366 were released. I decided to buy a Asus R4E and Intels new flagship Core i7-3960X. I ordered a new rear fan with red leds and a second ram cooler too. I also replaced the four ram cooler fans with blue leds by red illuminated fans. Full resolution pics: Click here RMA Rebuild I had to RMA my Rampage 4 Extreme due to BIOS flash problems. After a month I got my motherboard back and I reconstructed my system. This time I put more emphasis on putting the cables together in order to improve the air flow. Due to thermal issues with GPUs 2 and 4 I had to be a little creative. The professional solution would be water cooling system, probably some time in the future... Now I have time to create my own watercooled solution or probably I'm able to get the watercooler design from l3p.nl. Back on topic, I'm pretty impressed what a single GTX 670 is capable of. I'm running the card on all three displays with a resolution of 6040x1200 (bc) and every game is playable on maxedout settings there are only three exceptions so far: Battlefield 3, Metro2033 and Crysis2. I ran some benchmarks, results in the images below. Some further testing will be necessary to get the card to its limit, thanks to Svl7 for analyzing the vbios. 2. so far without windows updates I have installed 80% of my software and still doing great. Currently installing my steam games and going to do another sys image. After that I was going to test older mouse software and update windows a bit pretty sure its only the mouse software and I have a trouble ticket with Logitech.

  3. Well found what I hope is the only problem software, Logitech G300 Gaming mouse Title: Logitech Gaming Software (Current) Software Version: 8.20.74 I installed this and testing the switching and that little screen I posted wouldn't pop up and it wouldn't auto switch, I quickly uninstalled the mouse software and restarted and the switching works again. So some how this software does something to the switchable graphics app. I plan to write to logitech with my full system specs and everything and see if they with try and patch it or something. I really liked this mouse since they had a profile for BF3 it was easy to program the extra buttons for in game commands. BF3 only sees 2 of my 6 extra buttons with out the software. Still running stock drivers and have not updated windows, I do have a system image created less then 24hrs ago and might start doing updates and stuff and see how updated I can get without something breaking again LOL.

  4. hey people, well been doing a lot to my R3, re-pasted the GPU and dropped the temps about 10c and am using trixx to OC to 800/1175 which gives me a steady 50-70 FPS in BG3 with temps no higher then 74c on the shader temp which always seem to be the highest in monitoring software. Also found out the logitech software for the G300 gaming mouse breaks the software that does the graphics switching. Also still running the factory installed drivers. Not sure I want to test the new ones just yet but will at some point. I also used windows image creator to create a VHD file of my system, with windows ultimate you can boot from a VHD file but with some editing of boot files, which at some point I am going to set up so I can have a test setup and my normal working system. then I can test drivers or what ever and if things don't work out a simple restart and select the regular system and I am back without hassles like I have had. I would image the HVD files could be run in a virtual pc also just don't think testing drivers would be as affective.
