  1. Some impressions from today... fantastic snow and nice weather, but it's freezing, between -20 and -30°C (Americans can check the "convert to metric guide below" ) Face freeze: Guide to converting to metric:

  2. Yeah, nice choice. Dell has great IPS displays. I'm completely satisfied with my Dell U2412M. Great. The ultimate edition of the GTX 560 is the one with the 448Cores and this is similar to a 570, think about it, if the budget allows it. Newegg.com - EVGA 012-P3-2068-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 448 Cores Classified 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Edit: Videocardlength should be no problem checked that.

  3. Nice standard smallsize rig I myself would choose one smaller in display size, because of the 1080p resolution, gives a higher pixelrate per inch. Amazon.com: ASUS VS228H-P 21.5-Inch LCD Monitor - Black: Electronics Compare: 24": ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Display- ASUS VS248H 22": ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Display- ASUS VS228H Spend the money you save above to get one of the GTX 560 Ti Cards: Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card They have more CudaCores 384 instead of 336 and higher clockrates. You have the optical drive from an old rig?

  5. Seems to give 3-5 fps gain in BF3 which is ok but I bet I could get that easily with a slight OC of the standard 560 Ti. The rest of the benchmarks saw anywhere from 5-10+ which was good but it is also $70 premium. I guess resale value will also be higher on those right? Hmmm sell the batman coupon for $30 and it should bring the cost down to around $270...seems worth it.

  6. New 2x 120mm fans with red LEDs to replace the last two whitelighted fans on the frontpanel have finally arrived. Now the wait with the RMA goes on, nothing heard yet.

  7. @svl7: Nice time to go to one of the coldest places here in switzerland ;D Surely there was a sign "Only this weekend: Liftticket including face freeze for free!" Last saturday I had wastepaper collection with my gymnastics club, was one of the drivers this time, what a luck. Temps were around -16°C!

  8. Most likely overheating is causing this GPU failure. Hopefully there is no permanent damage. For a start download GPU-Z and monitor your temps. Also clean the vents and make sure you have proper airflow underneath your laptop. A repaste will be beneficial as well but if your GPU is already damaged and you 're within warranty you should better ask for a replacement, sooner or later it will fail. (there are a couple of solutions left but not recommended at this point). welcome to the forum btw

  9. i had time to think on this and what you said is how i feel. I will not pursue a new case as a tech would need to dissasemble the entire unit completely down to every last piece and i do not feel like doing it myself either. I will get the 580 sli and enjoy the system. I have had so much down time had little chance to enjoy the system recently. I would have been claiming a tech scratched it thats rude to techs... I would have just said tructh came as a refurb dinged up... Honesty has been best policy throught this mess. I am happy with system and am not bother enough by the minor cosmetic issues. I swapped my custom name plate will anyone be mad? Dave push for the 2860qm i am certain if you pose the statement right they will feel it necessary to give it to you free. Claim youve been waiting long enough that youve waited longer on replacements etc then actually had the system... And your a paying customer who deserves better treatment. I know what its like working with them its a PITA but i think you'll enjoy system better with a faster cpu people try to say the lower cpus are fine but if you want to help future proof the bottom cpu will not last in games and apps as long as the 2860qm. The speed is similar to a stock 2960/2920 i want you to be happy and i personally think if you can deal with thier bull little longer you can atleast get 2860qm for your trouble tell them 2660qm is not a real upgrade from the one you had this is all facts and not based on false claims. Its a PITA but im telling you its worth it to fight for yourself... No one else will. Im calling it good on the 580's but i think you should push the cpu more atleast the 2700 series...

  10. Had some disassembling fun... Mars II repasting!! Look at the factory paste... hmmm, I'd expect a slightly better quality paste for such an exclusive product. I'm curious to hear about the new temps... Should hear from Conker as soon as he got the cards back in his system.
