  2. Hi Podgrummer... you seem to know plenty. The fact that any member in anyforum is new means nobody know who you are until you voice a question or statement. So in short no the fact your a new member does not mean you know nothing about computers... some people have a library of knowledge here and they were new once too and no one knew that till they introduced themselves. Welcome to the forum Podgrummer, things can get a little borderline of not being conversations anymore and nearing argument since there are so many personalities in this giant world. Sometimes we all need to step back and say why make it a heated discussion and just say what we all think and reference all the facts and allow everyone to come to their own conclusions themselves. This way no one is right or wrong rather we all have our own point of views and that's what makes us human... if not we might as be thoughtless robots. So hopefully there isn't actually anymore thoughts here that people are assumed to be stupid if they are new members here or anywhere. i have great respect for every member that comes here. Sorry you felt that way. Welcome to the forum again please take this as not being directed at anyone in particular but my thoughts after reading "And one more thing (not to you marcus, to who criticized me), does the fact that i am a new member on this forum mean i don't know anthing about computers?" This forum is actually a friendly place and if people are out of line there will be resolution hopefully everyone is mature enough to just not have issues of immaturity. This place is a giant discussion and should stay that way. My apologies that you felt that way Podgrummer please accept, every point of view is important here.

  4. I don't have a video, but if you max everything out and use MSI Afterburner (or nVidia Inspector with Memory: 1170mhz; Shader: 1540mhz; Core: 770mhz) and overclock your CPU to 2,66 ghz all cores, you will get about 40 fps. I play on ultra settings and for me it is very playable. Only downpoint is the noise. But if you have a headset, it will be ok

  5. The 2920xm (or at least the "model 0" engineering sample) works in the M14x, but no overclocking support and temps at load are pretty high, rsomeone tried it recently, though to be honest it wasn't really necessary to test it... the heatsink is simply not sufficient for such a powerful CPU, the TDP is 10W more than the other i7 chips (at stock). Best option for the M14x is a 2860QM, but whether it's worth it... it totally depends on what you do with your system. Generally spoken if you have to ask whether you need it, then you won't need it

  6. Little update. I think this is the maximum I can take out of it. Anything above these settings causes instability, grafic glitches and temperatures above 76 degrees. So no big improvement: 2062 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Alienware M14xR1 score: P2062 3DMarks //Edit// Just out of curiosity I installed the stock driver and removed the oc on the cpu. I got 1321 Points on 3DMark 11. New drivers, voltage mod and overclocking gave me a 56% better 3DMark 11 Score. So why does nVidia set the basic clock to 590 Mhz if (even without the voltage mod) 770 works great with MSI Afterburner? Even those settings can easily give you +400 marks in the benchmark.
