jojomann
As a non-tech guy, I'm looking to breath a little life into my old m15x starting with ram. It's not used for anything to intensive, but is showing its age. Would Kingston HyperX 8GB Kit 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM 1.35V Laptop Memory (HX316LS9IBK2/8) work in this system? Any reply greatly appreciated.
str8_an94baller
I believe that kit of ram will plug and play, so no issue there. Also the BIOS would automatically downclock to 1333/cl7 iirc, not sure.
jojomann
Plug and play...my favorite type lol. I will try it.
jojomann
Not so plug & play for me. I end up in a reboot loop. The memory check passe, and both show up in the bios (A09). Saw something about a memory frequency error. Can the frequency be adjusted?
Moderator BAKED Posted May 1, 2016 Moderator Share Posted May 1, 2016 That memory is DDR3L (low voltage) rated at 1.35 which I don't think is compatible with such an old model. You'll need 1.5V memory.
discovision
I've read 2 sticks of 8G Crucial Ballisiix Sport 1600MT/s PC3-12800 CL9 is the best for this aging legend! Edited August 30, 2016 by discovision
kbm
A09 and 2x8GB Kingstone with 1.35V. Working properly. BIOS can see RAM but W7 see all.
stickman89
Why was it ever that people assume that 8GB was the max? I'm confuzzled. I've heard it murmered before.
