HTWingNut
Surprised I haven't seen this here. I picked up one of these laptops from Best Buy: A6-3400m 1400-2300MHz 4GB DDR3 (one stick, one free slot) Radeon 6650m + crossfire with iGP 500GB 5400RPM HDD DVDRW 15.6" 1366x768 screen 6-cell 56000WHr battery The CPU can overclock as well as the A8's. I can run mine at 2.4GHz and GPU can overclock modestly, but in the end, I can game on Bad Company 2 at 45-50fps with medium detail and Starcraft 2 about same FPS. Heck I was even able to game on battery using the iGP playing Bad Company 2 at 1280x720 at medium low for 1.5 hours at 25-35fps! My only issue with it is the screen is average for color, brightness, and viewing angles, but not horrible. And battery life is still a little lacking, getting about 3.5 hours with light web browsing. See my brief overview on YouTube: Needless to say, I will probably end up keeping my DV6z only because I need a larger resolution display and longer battery life, but it's still hard to swallow the +$300 or so for the DV6z over this Asus laptop. Stevenxowens792
@HT - Thats not a bad deal at all. Compared to a even a bottom end alienware the price looks very nice. How have you liked the crossfire on the dv6z
HTWingNut
Crossfire is a mixed bag right now. With DirectX 10 and 11 support is pretty good. Although it only garners about 10-15% FPS increase when it should improve by about 25%. But with improved drivers over time hopefully it will get better. unreal25
Yeah... 1366x768 on 15.4" screen. Yuck. Why not just stick with the Sager you have in your sig?
HTWingNut
Wups, gotta update my sig. Sager went back. I'm looking for cheap and good battery life (> 4hrs) Hard to beat $450 even if screen resolution sucks. I may actually end up keeping the Asus. I don't have a lot of need for a laptop at the moment, so I'd rather go as cheap as possible. But it's hard to give up a 1080p screen, 6-7 hrs battery life, and blu-ray, along with a slightly faster GPU.
svl7
I couldn't work with a resolution of 1366x768 on a 15.6 inch screen anymore, not since I got my M15x with 1080p on the same size. But of course, the price is great.
