Need urgent help

Hi,

I have just updated my bios today, but I think it went bad. My laptop isn't booting anymore. Only the power button lights up and remains that way until I shut down the laptop myself.

I have tried many recovery processes to no avail.

This is what I have tried.

forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/13095-Undocumented-INSYDE-BIOS-recovery-method-Use-andy-s-tool-to-obtain-possible-names

Laptop is booting up, fans at max speed and it starts to read my usb, but there are no beeps, and the usb is being read again indefinitly. Ran for about 1 hour straight, still nothing.

It seems like I'm missing the real filename of the bios file.

If anyone can help, I'd be really grateful.

I'm also willing to offer 15$ to anyone who successfully resolve my problem.

Oh, and my laptop is a Lenovo Y580.

I guess you put all of those files on a usb drive and then pressed FN+B whilst pushing the powerbutton and kept holding those two?

Did you format the drive as fat or fat32?

Have you tried with naming the file 3207.BIN?

Seeing your pen drive being read should be a good sign meaning your notebook isn't completely toast :)

My drive was FAT32.

And I tried these as well, still no luck.

This is the file I used, and renamed to all these names.

I flashed the v.8.01 unlocked bios from here.

http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/2260-lenovo-y580-y480-unlocked-bios-versions.html

And I had the 8.01 bios at first.

But the flashing went well. I mean, I was able to boot after flashing the modded rom.

I messed up some settings, and it doesn't boot anymore.

Have you done a CMOS reset by removing the CMOS battery and leaving it out for ten minutes and then put it back in again? This will reset the BIOS settings to it's optimal defaults meaning if you have messed up the settings this will most likely solve it.

And by the way have you tried to connect an external display to it?

I have tried with my TV, both VGA and HDMI.

I have removed the CMOS battery and let it powerless the whole night.

I haven't soldered the battery back to it's place yet.

Laptop is still the same, not booting.

Too bad it didnt help =/ there is a clamp you can buy on ebay which you put on the soldered BIOS chip that is connected to a usb programmer so you can reprogram the bios without having to remove the chip, it's for 8-pin chips.

Just a tip if you can't get any recovery method to work.
