Guest Alienware-Luis_Pardo
Hey guys, We just came out with a simple guide on how to reduce the time it takes for your computer to shutdown. It was intended to address an issue were the system would get stuck while shutting down, but it works for this as well Enjoy! Founder Michael Posted July 24, 2012 Founder Share Posted July 24, 2012 Nice, thanks. If people arrive here with problems with slow shutdown, they could also check out my article on the subject - Slow Windows 7 shutdown? Here is the ABSOLUTE optimization guide! | Tech|Infernobtw, what Alienware suggests is killing services and apps in memory after 2 seconds, which could potentially lead to data loss.
svl7
Excellent, didn't know this method. I usually used a shortcut to the shutdown exe with the parameters -s -f -t 00 This results in an immediate shutdown as well, and you can combine it with a key combo.

True, for some reason certain apps we're hanging for over the 12 seconds given by default on Windows, after this quick tweak, it seemed to override the apps kill time and end it right away , but as Michael says, it may lead to data loss if you're running a background app that's still saving files when you choose to shut down. Btw, nice guide
