Lenovo G500 and G400 unlocked BIOS menu / wlan whitelist mod

Recommended Posts

In this thread you can post your requests for Lenovo G500 and G400 bios unlock.

If someone wants upgrade Wi-Fi card and remove whitelist, or unlock hidden additional menus and settings in bios setup menu, then you can post your request in this thread.

For prepare unlocked bios you should post your request here and then send me your file backup of bios via PM or upload it into any fileserver and send me the link.  For creating backup of bios use attached utility. Extract attached archive directly on the Desktop and run utility as Administrator (right click mouse, choice "Run as Administrator). Utility will create archive "results" directly on the Desktop. Send me this archive "results" via PM or upload it into any fileserver and send me the link.

This is my first question. Hope it has not been answered.

If I'm to unlock the Bios, can the Lenovo IdeaPad 500 be connected to an external powerful GPU?

My laptop came equipped with 2 Nvidia GT 750 one soldered to the Intel Graphic  card and the second one removable.

Hi!

Unfortunately i don't know if unlocked bios can help you with connecting to an external powerful GPU. But you can try it. You can send me your file backup of bios, then i will unlock Lenovo whitelist, and unlock additional hidden settings, then you can check if it help you.

Hello there,

I am new to this forum.

I have a lenovo g500 and want to unlock the bios.

I did run the test and here are the results.

What I want is to disable intel boost and set the clock manually as well as possibly figuring out the best undervoltage for the specifi cpu (i5-3230M)

It is a crappy computer, but I still want to get a bit more juice out of it.

Also, I have a very bad gpu (intel hd graphics 4000) but still would like to access its settings (not the intel standard menu), and XTU will not access it.

Finally, my hard drive is underperforming by a lot ( Seagate Momentus Thin 5400, 9, 2.5'' 500GB) and I was wondering if you could think of anything I could do beyond replacing it

Let me know if you need more info about the bios version and such, or you already gather all that from the rar file.

THanks a bunch,

Konos Vita

p.s. tried to attach the file but it's 2.17 Mb and I am only allowed up to 1024k apparently

Hi!

Unfortunately unlocked bios don't help in your case.  I recommend you to create new thread where you can ask about more juice for your laptop.

Oh that's too bad then. I suppose you got this from the results right? I will create another thread, but truth be told if I cannot access the cpu clock, there's not much I can do beyond that, having the latest bios et al. But thanks anyway!

For prepare unlocked bios you should send me your file backup of bios, because each bios mod is personal, based on your file bios backup, and contain personal information like UUID, serial numbers, Service Tag, Windows keys, MAC address, e.t.c.

For creating backup of bios use attached program. Extract attached archive directly on the Desktop and run the program as Administrator (right click mouse). Program will create archive "results" directly on the Desktop. Send me this archive "results" via PM or upload it to any fileserver and send me the link.

Hello, as the title states, I would be very happy if someone could give me the link to the mod, apart from that, what version should I install?, as I've seen that some models have v1 and v2.
My other questions are: what do I have to do to install a new GPU?, (9xx series)
And what mods do I have to use to have a 10x0 series (and which are compatible).
I have the Clevo P150SM(model)/P150SM-A(product code) (2 models on the sticker) with stock bios (it says copyright 2012, so I guess it's the 1st version) with a 4710MQ and 870M.

I would be very pleased if someone could hand me the link.
      Many thanks in advance.

      Hi,

So I've landed here to get some help with unlocking my old laptop. I must confess I've done few mods before, but it was on PCs, so was a piece of cake - adding Xeon to supported CPU models, or updating OROM to get a system boot from RAID SSDs. But now I'm trying do "the same" with laptop first time and this is a nightmare, mostly due to multiple BIOS vendors/methods, each of which requires own tools, some works with older revisions, some don't, some require 32-bits, some don't, and all YT examples being done using various configs = so in the end: a mayhem.

      My laptop config is:
      Lenovo B570e, i5-2520M, 10GB RAM
BIOS: 44CN43WW (latest, unmodified), SMBIOS 2.6
Phoenix/EFI SLIC Mod indicates it is an EFI/Insyde BIOS, but entering the BIOS I've got "Phoenix SecureCore Tiano" info
WLAN: original damaged, a replacement (by chip) doesn't allow laptop to start - Error 104 Unsupported wireless network device...

All I've found so far was:
      * Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0 - to make a BIOS dump file (succees)
      * UEFI Tool - to load dump file, search required module and extract it (success)
      * WinHex - to search an assembler code boundaries, and extract it (WinHex will not save edits = unregistered version), so semi-success
      * Hex Editor Neo - to disassembly code, and probably make changes (so far: in progress:))

And I've stopped at searching the JZ/JNZ mnemonics, probably this is because I've got wrong code boundary (from WinHex), which gives improper disassembled program in preview pane. What I'm looking for is a loop, which I try to obey - regarding to some "popular" links describing this method (unfortunately I can't follow these instructions 1:1 as some programs don't work as supposed and crash - like WinHex, yup, some don't work at all and I need to use different tool).
One more frustrating thing is I can't find proper tool for final stage - which is good (working) flasher. I can't remember how I've reflashed BIOS previously - must have been years ago - but now PhoenixUEFIWinFlash makes a BSOD (original, executable BIOS downloaded from Lenovo support website uses this program, which shows its GUI for a moment and makes BSOD), and "external", latest Phoenix UEFI WinFlash program doesn't want to work properly at setting up stage. Probably I will have to use phlash16 and FreeDOS, but will see at the end, when I have modded BIOS completed.

Any suggestions (or even better - some ready, modded file), please ?

Thanks in advance for any help, I appreciate any clue.
