sarouxx
Hi! I would like to know if it's possible to upgrade my old M17xR3 (2011) 6990M graphic card to a GTX970M? I can found brakets and VGA Heatsink. But I don't know if the card will be detect by bios and if Windows 10 will start? I read that there are problem with no UEFI Notebook. My AW M17x-R3 have the Unlocked Bios A12. So do you think it's possible to upgrade or not ? If not, an upgrade with GTX 880M is possible ? Thanks in advance. MATRIXAD
Hi you will have to install a modded bios, You will need a modded Nvidia inf file. But not 100% with the rev 3. Stay well away from the 880m from what i have read it is a bit of a disaster. I have just preped my Alienware m17x rev 4 ready to install a 780m graphics, I could be wrong and correct me if i am but unless you want 3d and a 120hz display after looking at the reveiws the 780m comes in as well and on some older games way better than even the 980m. Your best bet is do a lot of research before you decide on this site is your best bet as it has the most information and files you will need. sarouxx
So I understand. 970m is possible but it's necessary with modded bios & modded inf file. Could you please give me link to found it ? 880m is not the good choice. 780m is ok but no 120hz and no 3D (no problem for me because my display is not a 120hz. Zoldago
If tomorrow the sun is shining i will do some modding work on my M17x R4. Then i can test my 980M in an R3 and tell you the results.
