  1. Hi All, I need to make 5 posts before I can download the goodies from SVL7, so rather than reply non sense to other threads I thought this may be a good way to see if there's anyone in my situation. I'm sure some of you have come across http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/windows-10-nvidia-whql-drivers-are-killing-alienware-and-clevo-lcd-panels.779449/page-203#post-10098762 and if you haven't I hope you have an AMD card which seems to be one that doesn't have the problems. But anyway.. I purchased my Alienware M18X R2 with some sweet ass 780's in SLI, 3940XM and it was there.. lighting up all over the place on the table and I was getting all excited, Windows 10 installed in around 6 minutes with an 850 EVO SSD, done all the Windows updates and then I typed into Google "M18x windows 10 Nvidia drivers" and there it was.. around three titles down the above link.. Windows 10 and Nvidia killing Alienware and clevo panels. Within a short space of time what did look like a beast now looked like something on borrowed time.. it's three days in and it's still working but then again I'm not the only one to last this long.. some have had their LCD's work for over 2 months so I'm anxiously waiting until the time comes when I either get back and my laptop has shut itself off (which some users said happened) or I restart and get the dreaded 8 beeps signifying the LCD problem which has now been identified as the EDID of the LCD being corrupt. So yeah.. I can dwell but I figure i spent over 1k on on it I may as well have some fun on it while it still lives, so I'll be downloading the VBIOS for the 780's and have a game on GTA V for the time I can
  2. Has anyone with the AMD 7970m GPU successfully upgraded to an aftermarket 120hz screen? I know there's no 3d support but otherwise? I've read the guide at 120Hz 3D Screen upgrade for Alienware 17 | NotebookReview and they point out that there would be no support for 3d which is not what I'm looking for anyway, and I know that Enduro must be disabled by setting display to PEG in BIOS, but the writer of the guide seems unsure whether it's otherwise possible for the 7970m to utilize the 120hz screen, stating that it requires testing. There are also posts here mentioning at least two people bricking their systems by connecting the 120hz replacement screen. I assume the cause was that they did not use the N392W replacement video cable mentioned in the notebookreview guide, and just connected the new screen to their existing cable? Has anyone here tried this combination (120hz LCD / 7970m) or know of any further references to it? Thanks guys!
  3. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with excessive backlight bleed on their Clevo laptop? The panel is a 75Hz LP173WF4-SPF1.
  4. Hi, I'm trying to overclock my Clevo P170EM LCD to a higher refresh rate than 60Hz with no success. Still getting bandwith related error message in Intel HD Graphics driver so I tried Powerstrip... which allows to create custom refresh rate but as soon as you change it, screen turn grey and nothing... had to hardreset. Does anyone had any success with Powerstrip / HD4000 ? First heard of LCD OC here and here. Thanks in advance for any tips you could share.
  5. The LCD stays black, no display but the external monitor works normally. It seems not to be the "backlight", the "F8" function key does not alter the problem. Does the video card deliver signals to the LCD AND the external monitor connector? Thanks for your help
