  1. After playing this on different servers, on and off (not really going nuts to level up or anything) mostly just performance measurements. I can honestly say.. im just not too impressed. Why.. 1. Snipers need serious balancing. 2. Spawn areas need to be protected. 3. It plays more like MOH MP than BFBC2 (and i dont like it) 4. The sound is good but something strange is afoot at the circle k when the enemy can hear me behind a cement wall CRAWLING on the ground over bullets and grenades and over 100 feet away. (Must be BF3 with Cryo uniforms) 5. the map is boring (hope others are better) 6. The gameplay is more than slow really. Meaning you spend most of the time running, diving, crawling and I emphasis CRAWLING unless you want a .34 K/D ratio. 7. Map looks the same as last time really. All in all .. 6 outta 10 so far. BFBC2 I would give 9 outta 10. Just my .02 StevenX
  2. The key in my opinion is to look at actual in game performance scores when adjusting or trying to run at certain clock speeds. Example I clock at 750/900 and get avg 34 fps at mostly ultra settings in crysis 2. Now I up my clocks to 800/900. I get 34.5 avg and 2c higher temps. I up my clocks to 800/1000 and i get 34.75 fps and 3c higher temps. I up my clocks to 825/1050 and get 35fps and now get 35fps and 4c higher temps. So for the increased heat of 4c, i get 1 fps more. This is called Diminishing returns. I might be able to get 1 more fps but for the most part my sweet spot is right at 752/900 or 752/1002.
  3. Clocks at 750/1000 ultra settings (all ultra, hbao disabled, aa/af 0) 30-45 fps. Higher indoors and less outdoors. The game plays like MOH vs BC2. I love BC2 and didn't care for MOH as much (multiplayer). The engines were the same but the gameplay was a bit different. Graphics are ok, not stellar, but I want to see the finished product before i fully comment. So far.. so good. Watch for the campers in your spawns. For some reason they didn't resolve that issue. StevenX
  4. Usual stuff here.. disable HBAO, Turn down the AA and AF and voila.. 100fps.. might want to lower shadows to med or low as they look about the same anyways. Just more dark and harder edges.
  5. What voltage is now everyone running at? Is it stable? Still Blue Screening? Thanks!
  6. New Driver released for Beta. I don't believe this is a notebook driver. With that in mind, When running the beta try your existing driver first before trying to install and modify the new updated beta driver. Battlefield 3 drivers to increase performance!! - Steam Users' Forums I have both MOH limited edition and BF3 pre-order and I still haven't received any activation codes yet for BF3 Beta. StevenX
  7. @Widez... did you not see my recent BC2 bench I5 vs I7? 10 fps difference
  8. @Ninja - its going to dip no matter what when theirs lots of smoke and so forth. The cpu really comes in handy when its a full server. That's when you see the value of the cpu. To see what I mean login to any 32 man server. I can try do the same even at the same time. Enable logging and we can compare notes. Its not a perfect way to bench but it might help show some performance indications. My "gut" feeling tells me that BF3 is going to be a challenge to run. So hopefully they will allow us to optimize on the BETA build. Thanks again for everything.. your hard work is much appreciated!
  9. @Ninja - here is the logs from fraps. Vanilla high bfbc2 (hbao disabled) Atacama Desert conquest. 10. Nah, well be fine at 750/900. No need to volt mod to play. However im waiting to see what the I5 vs I7 impact has on this. Of course nothing is final until the finished game (and a few patches) comes out. Im excited though.
  11. Reading through these we are blessed at this site to have great members and great advise. Gears, try all of these and let us know. Im sure your gpu will come back. Best Wishes, StevenX
  12. Ive been following this game for the last few months. The initial reviews from Beta were mixed as in its a very slow paced game and the graphics textures were very drab. I think one review said something like "its a repetitious affair of moving and camping, moving and camping". The game may follow a true WW2 style environment but with so many offerings this year this one has to be moved close to the bottom for me as a "if it goes on steam sale i may buy it". Thanks for posting the video and your thoughts. StevenX
  13. Remember from a Driver point of view, nvidia can easily lower the amount of "default" tessellation it processes and the 3dmark score will increase or decrease accordingly. That's one reason why ATI drivers are much easier to get higher scores. Turn the Tess down and whamo.. you just increased by 200-300 points easy. The scores are outstanding and much congrats are in order!
  14. Running late today and NBR posted first... (not happy about this). NVIDIA DRIVERS 285.27 BETA Have not installed yet but link lists the improvements. Thanks, Steven Owens
  15. Unreal - don't be hatin' on a strong woman of color who wields a gat! LOL... i understand and I did comment a lot (in chat too) about the atmosphere not all being destructible. If they could just add the bfbc2 engine to zombies I would be set!
  16. I don't say NOOB often.. I just dont like it. Everyone has to start somewhere. You can learn new things from anyone. Parents learn new things from their kids all the time (they just don't usually admit it). I would not ever claim to know it all.. not even a little bit. Most of the time i wing it, and then add a confident look to make others feel better about me flying by the seat of my @ss. I just know what I know. i can tell you i am old school pc. I know loads of old DOS, command line stuff, etc... I prefer newsgroups to torrent or p2p.... My old BBS name back in the early 90s was ExcessiveForce .. it's always been that. back in the rue morgue days on BBS. I think we 30s and 40s guys have a younger mentality because we can relate to youth a lot better than the previous generations.. hell im a big kid, and i play with my son in the floor, make forts.. goofy stuff. .. sorry for the ramblings of an old fart
  17. @Unreal - check this page out and this thread.. might help you out. Good luck! StevenX\ Constant Video Card Crash (STILL NOT FIXED) - Page 7 - Steam Users' Forums
  18. @unreal - i don't know about the IP to IP. I know they already have a large mod community so you might want to hit the steam forums.
  19. I got the ripper and sold it.. it's way to loud. Its a public broadcasting announcement to all nearby zombies that your in the area. Im lvl 9 now and using a variety of cool weapons.
  20. @Ninja - my guess is that 4 threads will be enough. Whether they are hyper or physical will probably not make a difference. If it were an older game then sure, i would be worried but as this was developed and created in the last 4 years, I think the I5 folks will be fine.
  21. I5 users rejoice.. Dead Island Rocks on 4 threads! http://forum.techinferno.com/pc-gaming/1121-dead-island-review.html
  22. Great post KSSR! Thanks for joining and posting! now of course im luring you in here with my usual question... What games do you have and what are you willing to benchmark???
