Ok.. You all know we have 3 speakers. Two on the panel below the monitor and 1 sub. My question is this... On my machine, I have a much heaver TWEET or clear high on the right side then on the left side of the panel. when I cover the right speaker it sounds like my left one has a lot of mid but very little tweet. I can't tell if it's blown or that's just how this laptop is setup. I dont get crackling or anything like that. Your opion and results are very important. Thanks, StevenX

All, I have had a little time to check a few things. The games that use phsyx such as two worlds two and homefront do NOT have a negative impact in FPS. For me, this is a first. The gaming is smooth and I am just baffled. I think this amazing. Granted it doesn't add that much to the game but still... Smoother particles and so forth is a plus. just my .02 StevenX

Arklight, I am talking about the 40hz change in relation to being on battery. In the registry I am wondering if something is in the portion that controls the power mgmt. Also, when the machines shut off (like mine does as well) are your GPU Settings set to Balanced on Battery or Max Perf? Try it on balanced and see what it does. Thanks, StevenX

Depends on where the adjust settings are located. If you look in the registry you have keys for each setting in power management. If it's an adjustment that's coded in the bios I doubt much can be done. I dont have the machine in front of me until later today so I will try to check later. Arklight if you want to start digging hit all the keys in relation to power mgmt. StevenX

Told you guys.. 3dmark06 = no value! You know as well as I that the 5870m xfire at stock will SMOKE the 555 nvidia in frame rates. However for some dumb reason 06 seems to think the CPU is more necessary for most games and scores it higher. The one thing I am is a realist. I dont make magic claims in cards and I tried and tried to give the kids at NBR some real figures on the 555 before I left. In the games forum and xps forum you would have thought the 555 was able to part the red sea and turn water into wine. I just kept trying and trying to explain its a lower-High Tier card. Or... Maybe you could say it's a HIGH-Medium Tier card. Either way.. it's not the 5850 or the 5870. What can you do... I know what this thread needs.... MORE BOOBS! Where are you ILOVEBOOBS? Ok.. A post on the youtube video asked for Just Cause 2 Benchmarks.. So here are 3 screenshots. This is the fully paid, Steam version of Just Cause 2. It has 3 benchmarks. I ran the first one called THE DARK TOWER. 1st one: Absolute Max settings, the only thing disabled is vsync. 27 FPS AVG 2nd one: Absolut Max settings, GPU overclocked at 750/900. 32 FPS AVG 3rd one: Absolute Max settings, GPU overclocked at 750/1000. 33 FPS AVG Best Wishes, StevenX

Nando - I still dont know how I am higher in vantage stock by 11 points. Here is where we really need some creative thinking. I think a game like ARMA 2 and Arma 2 OA which hammers the cpu and gpu will actually give us the best figures to determine what type of performance increase you really get. the problem is .. ARMA is also a beast to get configured. Example... you install default, run mission 8 which is benchmark, you get 31 fps avg. Un-install, wipe registry. install default, run mission 8, get 34 fps. Makes no sense. Metro 2033 is our best bet and Just Cause 2. If we really want it to be close we can both disable turbo so that only puts us at 200 mhz apart no matter what so the cpu really becomes a non-factor. Same cache level. Take Care, StevenX

Here is my stock 3dmark11 Score 1334 (10 point difference between 2720qm) sounds about right. And I mean I set everything to stock.. bios, nvidia I hit the reset button to apply default settings,

The only issue is that he has the 2720 qm which is a bit faster by almost 400mhz at all 8 threads... So we need items that are primarily gpu like just cause 2 or metro 2033 built in benchmarks to see the difference.

CONGRATS TO REVDIESEL! He got his machine and already benched a 1344 stock on 3dmark11 with the nvidia 555 3.0gb and the 2720qm. Outstanding sir!

Commander- Thanks so much for the response and the vote of confidence! I have already started kicking the teeth in on the benchmarks with a 1750 3dmark11 score at 800/1060, Vantage score of 8350 and 3dmark06 score of 157xx (can't remember the last two as I dont really value 06 benchmarks). Before I got kicked from NBR I wrote a guide on how to optimize the bios and am I super happy with the 2630qm. During a 1024 wprime I can maintain over a 25x turbo the entire test. Literally. My mhz never drops below 2608, all 8 threads. I love this m14x so far. In truth I really wish it had a 6770 or 6850 but we dont get everything we want. Crysis 2 Advance Graphic Config Tool. The M14x can play on the extreme config at about 21-25 fps stock. With overclock to 750/1000 it can maintain close to 30 fps. With this tool, you can remove FSAA, MSAA and AF and maintain well over 30fps.
