    @J95 - What's the best drivers currently for a stock 970m please? on firestrike I'm getting 6163 tops and I can't work out why :/ I currently have 359.06 running PEG

    Just DDU'd installed 353 applied full profiles 6 with nvinspector and my score increased from 6163 to 6580 :)

    Another Update - nvlddmkm stopped responding twice in the past 20 minutes. I only have Chrome running, Steam open (nothing playing) and FRAPS open doing nothing. Not sure if it may be software causing the crash or the nvidia driver itself.

    Stock clocks?

    Chrome version? Chrome advanced settings, system: uncheck HW acceleration and background apps, restart chrome.

    Try Full_Profiles_7_v353.00.txt...remember to restore Nvidia defaults before rebooting.

    why are the 361,xx breaking with Prema's vbios mod?

    I can tell you right now that THERE IS NO UNLOCKED BIOS....simply because the bios for this model requires them to be digitally signed.

    Not the mod but older vBIOS versions, including desktop cards.

    Yes svl7's AW17 R1...many times he offered to send pre-programmed BIOS chips for both AW17 & AW18 but nobody had enough cojones/huevos back then. "ENTHUSIASTS"...:baby:

    @J95 I have installed a 980M in my Dell Precision M6800. I am reading through your guides and it seems to mention editing the nv_dispi.inf instead of the nvdmi.inf?

    I was trying to edit the file from GeForce 359.06 WHQL and it seemed quite different to the instructions I found from you. I am using Optimus as well.

    I also read about:

    - DDU "Clean & Shutdown"

    - Disable driver signing

    I suppose I have to do the above when installing the driver using the modded inf?

    Sorry this is my first time attempting this and I am getting a bit confused here.

    Anyway here are my Hardware IDs.

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_15CD1028&REV_A1

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_0300

    • DDU "Clean and Shutdown"
    • Win 8.1/10 -> disable DSE
    • Extracted driver package -> Display.Driver folder -> open nvdmi.inf (notepad) CTRL+H -> Find What: 05AB Replace With: 15CD  -> Hit 'Replace All' -> save
    • Extracted driver package -> run setup.exe.

    Hey man... I tried my luck with windows 10 once again today. I am officially deciding that it is impossible to use the 980m in optimus on windows 10. Maybe a vbios mod would fix this but for now I am stuck on win8.1...

    I keep asking if anyone has been able to get it working but the only ones who did, are using dedicated with the 120hz screen....

    Try installing Dell's Win10 drivers http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/6099/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=7GM0D

    If you are still having issues go for the latest versions https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25489/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-

    Station drivers http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=353&func=select&id=108&lang=en

    Use my modded nvcvi.inf which has the proper edited "section"... black screens otherwise, don't try any graphics switching to avoid EDID corruption.

    Keep these folders only, delete the rest.

    Use nv_dispi.inf instead, from here (already modded).

    or

    - Download latest drivers

    - Extract driver 7-Zip/winrar

    - Display.Driver folder -> open nvdmi.inf (notepad) CTRL+H -> Find What: 05AE Replace With: 0490 -> Hit 'Replace All' -> Save.

    - Extracted driver package -> run setup exe.

  10. Unfortunately I won't be able to try this out until next week when I'm back home! What's this HF driver fix anyway. I haven't had any problems using the your earlier 359 mod. So far so smooth sailing :)

  12. Hi all, just joined this forum to post a problem I am seeing.

    About 2 months ago, I upgraded my AW17 R1 (2013) with GTX770M to Windows 10 Pro, and it was running without much problems.

    With Windows 10 Pro installed, yesterday I changed the GPU to GTX970M and installed nVidia driver with modded .inf. The modded driver is installed in dedicated GPU mode (not Optimus mode). This is done by a more knowledgeable friend of mine.

    Here is brief description of observations after the modded driver installation:

    1. After modded driver installation completed, we can hear the notification tone of something plugged-in in Windows (like the tone when you plug in USB device);

    2. Screen immediately went black. However, the hard disk LED is blinking;

    3. When an external monitor is hooked up via the HDMI port, the external monitor is able to turn on and display the Windows desktop normally. This is observed by "duplicate" the monitor;

    4. When a game is launched in full screen mode, both the laptop and external monitors are able to display the game. After exiting the game, the laptop finally is displaying Windows desktop normally;

    5. My friend found a workaround fix for this issue, by using the AW17 power button to enter sleep mode. Only after entering and wake up from sleep mode the laptop monitor is able to light up and showing desktop.

    So, my AW17 currently is able to use GTX970M under Windows 10 but only with a workaround fix. After cold boot/reboot, the screen will still turn black. I need to press the power button to enter sleep mode and pressing it second time to wake up, only then the monitor will turn on and display normally.

    Anyone of you understand what is going on and know how to solve this, pls let me know.

    Hello all,

    I have an Alienware 17 (R5?) from 2013 and have upgraded from 880m to 980m.

    The HWID is: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05AA1028&REV_A1

    I have installed the Eurocom driver (17_R5_05AA1028_9xxM_358.50.zip) and in the nVidia Control panel, most of the features are missing. Also, Fn+F5 does not work.

    I need help locating the most suitable driver for this card.

    Thanks,

    Madhu.

    @Observer

    - Switch back to Optimus mode to prevent EDID corruption

    - Disable Hibernation: cmd (Admin) type powercfg -h off and press enter

    powercfg -h off

    - DDU "Clean & Shutdown"

    - Disable driver signing

    - Display.Driver copy/overwrite nvcvi.inf

    - Set both Windows power plan and NVCPL to "High Performance"

    @madhunm

    *Optimus model* only use nvcvi.inf form here

    @J95 359.00 is not the best driver, rolled back to 358.91 no throttling or extrange behaviors :S

    Just wanted you to know :P

    No problem here.

    J95 how can i make this modded inf file, i have an alienware m17x r3 , nvidia gtx 780m, what software will i use? thanks

    Sent from my ARCHOS GAMEPAD2 using Tapatalk

    Disable DSE and try nv_dispi.inf from here

    Hello mr J95

    I am stuck at this step ::: NV Inspector -> P0/P1 matching -> Copy nvidiaInspector folder and included batch files to C:\ root directory (Single/980M_Single_GPU_NVI...zip or SLI/980M_SLI_NVI...zip)

    Can you explain this in a more noob friendly way ? thanks!

    Just copy NV Inspector folder to C:\ including *SLI* batch files. Try stock clocks first, right click "Run as Administrator" -> Open NV Inspector -> *P1* "Create Startup Task"

    @J95

    Hey man

    I am facing an annoying issue once a week approximately, which I hope you can help me with. What happens, is when I boot to Windows, my GPU won't be detected anymore. In Device Manager I'll get the most-hated "basic display adapter" instead of 980m.

    In one case, this got resolved when I restarted the PC with driver signature off. Yesterday, however, I had to unistall the drivers using DDU and resinstall from scratch.

    Any idea what could cause this? I am using Win8.1 with Optimus.

    Just as a note, other than this issue, the driver/vbios/GPU are very stable in general. 0 issue when gaming, no throttling, low temps etc...

    You must disable driver signing each time you install new drivers...just hit F8 and disable DSE, no need to run bcdedit command again.

  13. PEG MODs Update:

  15. @nick81 Optimus AW17 R1 (nvcvi.inf) tweaking is not required, specific sections only, otherwise black screen...I've already explained this.

    Just compare "sections" w/ stock nvcvi.inf...:D

    @spacetauren glad to hear you are 'OK', tragic events still occurring every single day unfortunately.

    - Install 352.84 PEG MOD Win10 not Woodzstack's dropbox incomplete mod (my inf mod) T|I forum rules.

    - PSU minimum 240W.

    - Please drop OCCT and use Valley instead.

    - "P1" besides core 1038 MHz you need to set vram to 2505 MHz, like explained above.

  16. I didnt do anything with the P-States tbh. All I did was import the file with NVI and restore the current profiles to nvidia defaults. I dont have any overclocking on the cards theyre using the stock bios I got em with unmodified. Have no intention with changing anything on the Vbios atm at least as I dont have much experience on vbios flashing (also dont want to have to remove the cards or swap em either since taking apart the laptop is time consuming and I dont want to move the heatsinks either after getting them in there X_X) Dunno why the drivers up to 350.12 worked perfectly fine and only after those ones problems began showing up. My desktop uses the 980 Ti's and installs without issues and never has had any problems with the drivers.

    Edit: Looks like the throttle issue came back.Logged into FFXIV and the same zone again I Noticed on GPU-z that the perfcap shows pwr,sli on it at the same time it throttles to 340ish. Im just gonna stick with the 350.12 drivers for the time being since I know therye reliable enough, I dont have enough confidence to flash the vBios right now incase I make a mess of it. May keep occasionally testing new drivers but I went back as far as 355.82 and the throttle issue seems to be there in all of them dunno why It does that on later drivers and not 350.12. In anycase thanks for helping anyways.

    Then try installing 353.00 PEG MOD/latest profiles, it works w/ stock vBIOS too...Prema's vBIOS mod eliminates core fluctuation 1127-1038 MHz, UEFI supported nvflash (included) no need to remove the cards, backup current vbios using GPU-Z v0.86.

    @J95 I had a quick go with the new drivers, I did not do the power drain, I only power drain if I absolutely need to (had a bad experience, so I stay away from anything what might surprise me with a dis-assembly) The 359.00 drivers are Almost ok for the M18x R2, In the testing I did (3DMark11, Firestrike, Crysis 3, Unigine Heaven, Metro 2033 + Lastlight and Shadow of Mordor) I occasionally got a 325/405mhz (core/memory) throttle for a few seconds and then every thing returned to normal, in Crysis 3 and Shadow of Mordor I had no throttling at all. The P-state matching didn't help as its obviously throttling to a lower power state. By the way, I'm using a variant of svl7's vbios.

    Thanks man, better keep 353.00.

  17. Glad it worked out, I'll keep updating profiles until Prema releases the vBIOS fix.

    For PEG MODs best results flash @Prema's CLEVO_8GB_GTX980M_OC_PM_v1.1.1 (please consider donating to Prema)

    @Infini did you apply NVI "P-States matching" w/ v359.00? If so, please power off -> remove power cord & battery -> Hold power button for 60 seconds -> reinsert Battery/power cable.

    Power on -> NVI P-states matching -> check throttling...if it fails install 353.00 PEG MOD (follow instructions to the letter).

    @kenny27 please try this #881...Power drain -> NVI P-states matching, hopefully some of my older tweaks are still working 359.00...time to update PEG MODs...:D

  18. Tried the 359 drivers myself. Seemed to work fine but was getting throttle spikes while playing FFXIV :C. Only using stock rates as well I dont overclock at all. Ah well back to 350.12 again......

    Next time please include your system specs, such as Windows, HW...

    INF MOD 359.00 keep these folders only, delete the rest.
