I have had no problems with speed, I install all of my steam games onto the stock hdd connected to the caddy, and all the games play perfect. This mod really does get you the best of both worlds, speed of an ssd and storage.

I haven't had any heating issues with my r1, but at this point in time there are better options available, mainly being the r2 or lenovo y400

I recently upgraded to windows 8 from 7 and I'm loving it, took a while to get used to it, but I committed and now I enjoy the faster boot time and the start screen isn't as scary as I thought it was a few months ago.
