Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured, and why I posted here.
Also, there are a whole bunch of these cards on ebay right now for $100-150 or so. If it is possible to get this working nicely, then that could be a nice upgrade for people who want to get some more life out of their P15xHM laptops.
The funny thing is that for several years that's what Alienware users did by purchasing Clevo cards. They had to mod the inf but otherwise it was pretty much plug and play.

Posts like the one highlighted below are what make up the heart and soul of Tech|Inferno. We've got crazy users like HotPantsHenry that take a perfectly good working MSI GT60-0NC notebook with an 880m GPU and decide to go balls out by strapping on a waterblock to it using electrical tape..that's right electrical tape!
Check out the rest of his thread here: https://forum.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/8923-msi-880m-overclock-help/

Here is an awful picture, but will give you an idea of what is going on.
Cpu cooling is stock. Even with minor OC to the cpu, the temps stay pretty cool.

When ya gonna write up a quick and dirty guide on what to look for when modding these things? Bet a lot of people are curious.
-
From the looks of it in that picture, it seems it can be removed and then pushed back in. What happens when you try that?
-
I think since it's a Clevo system then the person who could help you the best would be @Prema
-
@Khenglish Have you considered doing a PSU mod to get some more juice out of that system?

I think the link for unlock BIOS is not working. Anyone could you give me the program to do it?
Thank youThe link works but you need to first participate in this community for a small time and then your account is individually promoted by administrator's. Continue participating over the next several days and you will get promoted. Alternatively you can go to the storefront and purchase TI elite membership and get instant access and it also helps support the site.

Yeah witcher 3 should work fine if you turn up the gpu settings. Don't try Furmark, you have an old GPU and it can still kill it even with water cooling as it pegs it at 100% constantly and it doesn't look like your VRMs are cooled.

Here is a quick picture of temps here.
Idle always is 27C (which i am proud of!)
Load was used on Skyrim @1920x1200 all settings ULTRA with AA@8x and AF@16X and FXAA enabled.
Mouse cursor shows temps at that current time.
I would use Furmark if it didn't decide to start crashing on me after the win10 update. ;-;
If you want me to use a specific program for benching/stress temp then feel free to tell me!
I think a good stress test would be a game like GTA V or even Rainbow 6 Vegas (if you have it). Given the age of the GPU, any of these new games should stress it enough to cause utilization to spike consistently. Those temps are pretty great, now you just need a way to miniaturize that water cooling setup
-
Haha wow, is that block taped on there? This should have some interesting results. What GPU is it using?
-
Cool look forward to seeing what you had to do to get it up and running. And I see your other thread is getting attention in the general area so you might want to put a link there to this thread.
-
@Klem may be able to assist.
-
Nice, do you have pictures of this watercooled setup?

where do i find the original files to download and upload? Really annoying how all the files are gone...
You don't have permissions yet to grab them. It is based on how frequently you post over a period of time (days). Once that internal rule is satisfied, your permissions are automatically upgraded.

What better place for a laptop with desktop hardware than a desktop hardware thread? This was intentionally not placed in a notebook OEM thread. The CPU and GPU are both desktop core awesomeness.
@Prema and I will be putting together a full review in the next week or so and this will be a thread for discussion. Opening post is a placeholder.
You can find the REVIEW here:

@ewentas try what operating system are you on? Check to make sure you are using the correct file name. You may need to disable the 880M in the device manager before attempting to flash it.
Then you can re-enable it:

When Fallout 4 was first released, we saw a huge deficit between NVIDIA and AMD in performance and many attempted to blame GameWorks for AMD's performance issues with the game. Many (including myself) maintained that it was an issue with AMD drivers needing a revision to bring performance parity rather than NVIDIA or Bethesda sabotaging AMD hardware. Now ten days later we have the following results, courtesy of OC3D:
I hope this serves as a lesson that when properly motivated, AMD can develop drivers that address performance deficits in DX 11 games and that it isn't always GameWorks fault.
-
Seems they are taking far too long to get the core of the game which is persistence and are instead releasing small modules and collecting money on ship sales. It almost seems like a scam to me and I do hope they end up with a solid game rather than something that was just a way to milk people of their money.

@Brian Thanks for your reply.. But when i try reinstall the drivers the setup say no hardware detected.. I'm using nvidia 335.23 drivers.. any idea why it didn't work out?
You may need to modify the nvidia ini file for your device id. Mr. Fox knows how to do that and so does @J95

@welshwilco here's what I found: On the PC version of the game, save games are stored in My Documents > My Games > Fallout4 > Saves. (<code style="margin: 0px; padding: 1px 5px; border: 0px; font-size: 13px; font-family: Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, 'Lucida Console', 'Liberation Mono', 'DejaVu Sans Mono', 'Bitstream Vera Sans Mono', 'Courier New', monospace, sans-serif; white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: rgb(238, 238, 238);">"%userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves"</code>

It's November 17th and the game is here! How many of you Star Wars fans grabbed the game? I personally couldn't justify dropping $120 for the season pass version so for now I just got the regular (and overpriced IMO) version for $63 off Origin. The plan was to use Greenman Gaming but it seems they hit a bad PR bump and ran out of keys early and are now getting (rightfully) crucified on Reddit. Anyhow, Battlefront is getting mixed reviews, metacritic has been pretty harsh with the PC version giving it a user score of only 5.0 (OUCH!) Professional reviews from the likes of Polygon, IGN and Gamespot are more rounded and give it an average of around 8.0/10 which isn't bad.
Seems in general the pros are that the game's sounds, aesthetics and feel stay very much true to Star Wars but the game itself lacks in content with only 4 MP maps (per mode) for the 40 player games. It seems EA is saving the rest of the content for their season pass to get more money out of gamers as they typically do since DLCs are now big business and make more money for gaming companies than the games themselves.
Anyhow, share some of your favorite moments here via pics, vids etc. If anyone wishes to join me on Origin, my username is 5150Joker. See you there!

Some people have wondered how they can manually install the GeForce driver once GeForce Experience downloads it so I decided to make a quick video demonstrating this. The reason for doing this so is as follows:
1. You can store the file for later use on usb
2. You can opt to do a clean uninstall from the control panel + DDU
3. Sometimes an install directly from GFE can fail
4. Game Ready drivers will only be available on GFE after december and NVIDIA won't be publishing them on their website.
Here's the video, if you have any questions let me know:
