  1. I don't think that you need the igpu drivers as if I remember correctly they are already bundled with the dell stock drivers, but I could easily be wrong there. I have always perfered nvidia drivers as they are a lot more easy to use, but the deal on my 6990m was to good to pass up. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using tapatalk 2
  2. hmm strange don't know why it would be going so crazy like that. Did the computer lose power or something? Mine always switches to the IGP when its unplugged or the house loses power.
  3. Haven't seen anything yet, but I'll keep my eyes out and see what happens. Makes me wish I had a 580m Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using tapatalk 2
  4. Some folks with the 580m on nbr have flashed their 580m's to a 675m. Guess that proves that the 675m is just a rebadge. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using tapatalk 2
  5. Glad to see you finally got it working. Now go frag some noobs. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using tapatalk 2
  6. hmm still not working for ya huh? I installed the dell drivers and then 12.2 and sometimes when I switched cards the 6990m would stay at battery clocks. When 12.3 came out I held off for a while but installed it and the switching issues disappeared. Might wanna try 12.3 over the dell driver and see if that helps.
  7. shipping isn't to bad through amazon, especially if they offer free shipping. Newegg and Tigerdirect try to charge an arm and a leg for shipping though so that's why i'm kinda worried about ordering from Avadicrect. Guess it doesn't hurt to look into it at least.
  8. I'll have to look into it and check the shipping costs as it can get expensive to ship things up here to Alaska. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  9. I got some carbon fiber and that's been doing a pretty good job, but ill be looking at doing something like you do as I take my machine to school daily in my backpack.
  10. Hows the software that comes with it? Just curious as my house doesn't have the best internet atm, so I wonder how much of a difference I might be looking at.
  11. right here Bigfoot Networks KillerN-1103 Notebook Wireless Card
  12. Just some wear and tear on the screen and the volume bar at the top is all scratched up from rubbing on the screen again. I also need a mobo replacement as my current one has some weird issue. If I turn my system all the way off and leave it unplugged for a while, the computer refuses to post and when plugged back into the wall rests the BIOS which is annoying. I already replaced the CMOS battery and it kept doing it, so I think I need a new mobo. Just been to busy to call dell. I really can't afford to send it in to the depot at the moment anyway since I need the lappy for school. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks for fixing the title I think I'm gonna snag one of the killer cards when I get a chance since the extra $20 seems worth it. The extra software will be nice to play with as well. As to running things wired vs wireless, I use my razer orochi plugged in while gaming so I don't have to deal with the occasional interference from my phone or other device. I try to use Ethernet when I can, but in some places its just not possible to so while gaming. Either card would be a decent upgrade for my system anyway since I just have the stock dual antenna half card anyway. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  14. Depends on what it does. A08 works just fine for me pesonally . I have the mentality with BIOS's that if ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  15. Posted this on NBR, But figured you guys would be interesting in looking at it too. Just found this review featuring the m17x r3 and a battle with the intel 6300 and the killer wireless 1103. Looks like the 1103 is the way to go for wireless gaming.(if you didn't know already). Looks like ill have to pick one up off ebay here soon. 16. yea I know what ya mean. I need a bunch of stuff replaced on my rig, but I can't go without it right now.
  17. Well looks like Dell pulled A10 down anyway. Wonder What happens next?
  18. Heard from some of my peeps on NBR that it still hasn't fixed the SATA issue. No Reason for me to upgrade at this point.
  19. I would try uninstalling all of the graphics card drivers and then reinstalling the dell drivers. After you got the dell drivers installed, you can install any AMD driver over top of it and retain the switching. The Key is to make sure you got the dell drivers installed because they have the hybrid switching setup properly for our systems.
  20. yup like both of these great guys above me have said, 6990m is worth the upgrade. I recently upgraded to a 6990m from my 460m, and ill i can say is WOW. Another thing you may wanna look at is accidental warranty. It can save you lots of time, money and effort in the long run if your machine gets damaged accidentally.
  21. Here is my best run, not sure im gonna get anything better at this point till i snag a 2920 eventually. <a href=" http://s989.photobucket.com/albums/af16/bigtonyman/Benching%20Stats/?action=view&current=Capture-3.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af16/bigtonyman/Benching%20Stats/Capture-3.png" width=600 length=480 border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
  22. Finally got it working. Figured it out as soon as i pulled the heatsink off. turns out the GPU dies on the cards are different. The 460m die runs parallel to the heatsink while the 6990m die is off center. The tape was preventing it from fully making contact with the die, so I removed it and temps are now down to 75C with my crappy AS5. Gotta get around to ordering some better stuff soon. Thanks for the help guys.
  23. yea its a dell card. I repasted twice the same way i always did my 460m since the card looks pretty much the same(at least to me) with all the v-ram and such in the same place. I used the x-bracket that came with the card and it fit fine with the heat sink. I'm gonna try reseating the pads and see if that helps at all here in a little bit. Whats the difference between the heatsinks? inap's 6990m heatsink looked pretty much the same as mine. Ill go back to NBR and see if I can find the pics. Edit: Gonna reseat the pads and remove the black tape from the heatsink and pray that my temps drop.
