Ok guys and girls, my Alienware laptop got fried today so I am left without a computer and since I am out of the desktop game for a long time now I need your assistance to build one. What I need to get is: CPU, Motherboard, RAM and PSU. My budget for those is €1300. Based on the CPU I would like to hear your suggestions: 1st option i7 4770K (€310) 2nd option i7 4930K (€540) RAM can be between 8-16 GB (preferably 2 modules for the 16GB) DDR3 1866 or more. (no more than €200) PSU I was thinking Corsair AX Series 1200i Digital (€325) (or should I go with the cheaper professional series?) Motherboard I was thinking about Asus Rampage IV Gene if I go with with the 2nd CPU option, so I am up to suggestions (up to €320) About CPU cooling I believe a Corsair H100i (€110) will suffice. Thanks again for your suggestions.

I don't use pads. I use IC Diamond which is quite thick instead -
@gnikolaides that depends, you need to figure out the reason behind 3DMark crashings. Is it due to high temps or due to lack of voltage with the higher clocks? If it's due to high temps overvolt won't help cause you need to keep temp low, otherwise overvolting will solve your problem. Also consider ambient temperature (if it's too high that won't help) also running the bench consecutive times won't improve your score cause the heatsinks are getting hot and they don't have enough time to cool down, plus some people when benchmarking tend to use a portable A/C unit blowing cold air directly to the heatsinks and helps them keep temps even lower therefore having extra headroom for higher clocks or voltage.

Sorry I don't have this game...

No it's not that of a bottleneck, but FPS drops and in game performance are not solely depended on CPU, GPU drivers are more important in that matter.
-
CPU wise it is a downgrade, otherwise it's an upgrade, especially in build quality and screen, so if you don't mind lower CPU performance then go for it

They are factory default at 7, didn't change anything. Only problem is that you can't find such low latency on bigger capacity chips Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4 Beta -

Yeah cooling is insufficient on our systems for such overclock thus the throttling -
Yeah, at least you can hook it up on an external display and do your work just fine

I have to wait till Monday so I can ride to various shops, show them the damage and ask for prices... I just don't want to remove the engine cover since the bike is brand new and I would rather find a solution that doesn't require disassembly...

@Arise I do only one muscle group at a time with one day of cardio (usually a day before the arms) so they have almost a week to recover @angerthosenear yeah just those deep scratches... I am planning to get an engine cover kit GB Racing Motor Protektor Kit Triumph Daytona 675 R 2013 Engine Case Cover Set | eBay so I can avoid unpleasant surprises in the future...

On my way to work today with my 3 days old Triumph Daytona 675 an old man with a scooter that was driving on the very right lane on a 3 lanes road (on a turn right only lane), decided to go straight instead, no turning signal, no indication, nothing... I was already leaning so I can take the turn when I realised he was coming straight on me from my right side. I straightened the bike and slammed the brakes (no ABS...) fortunately without locking them but I ended up hitting the side of the pavement and dropping it quite hard. This is the aftermath of the crash... The clutch cover and the fairing next to the side stand have scratches and I need to figure out how to repair them... This pic was taken right after I arrived at work where I was trying to assess the damage from the impact and check the front suspension and steering... (my colleague at that time didn't know what was going on and thought it was funny so he took a pic) The bike has less than 100 miles on it... it just ruined my day...

Thanks for the heads up! I just installed it and what's weird is that it reports the memory speed at 5600MHz... :S
