  1. I have a HD4600 + internal K1110M + GTX970 on Akitio.... in the past.. this setup didn't work... Wondering if it works now with new drivers from Intel + new drivers from nvdia + windows update
  2. Hey..... Anyone tested this again but with the new windows 10 updated?... the update released few days ago? Maybe Nvidia Optimus is working with the new big update for windows 10.

  4. Hi, Has someone tried the new drivers from yesterday: 358.87 from nvdia + New Intel HD4600 drivers? They both will have WDM 2.0 drivers. Maybe Nvidia Optimus is working meaning we could use the internal LCD like the way we do in win8.1 Anyone?
  5. Anyone tested the new drivers of Nvidia and intel drivers for the HD's ?
  6. No I didn't! But.... anyway... windows 8.1 is working flawless with latest drivers. Its just confirming windows10 is not yet stable. I believe I will keep windows 8.1 until dx12 games arrive next year. There are no gains to move to windows 10 at this moment. But I still have my windows10 in image (acronis dump). So, I can recover it... but I think its useless at this moment. Its something I will just try again next year. Windows 8.1 just worked straight forward with all the latest drivers to all components. anyway, many thanks for the alternative! I will point that DDU
  7. Hi, I've tried to install that 350.12 but I get black screens and driver stops. I went back to windows 8.1 + latest NVidia drivers and the system works like a charm. Windows 10 = crap
  8. Hi again Tech Inferno Fan Just did a scratch install with windows 8.1 + latest Nvidia drivers and the system works like a charm. Using internal LCD of my laptop (optimus is working) I achieve 5100 GPU score on firestrike extreme / 4800 total with 970 MSI Gaming Therefore.... im wondering if this is really a NVidia topic... since I used the same driver version (just selected different OS). I don't believe that compiling for windows 10 would make the difference. I'm more thinking about Microsoft issue or even the intel drivers...!
  9. OMG :\ Thanks a lot Tech Inferno Fan !!! I was hitting on the wall already. So, seems like I will need to install 8.1 instead...... :\ And use older drivers......
  10. Hello, I need you help about using the internal display. I got my setup mounted and running. Here are the specs: HW Used: - Zbook G2 with HD4600 and dedicated NVidia K1100M + Thunderbolt 2 - Akitio Thunder2 - MSI 970 Gaming - 500W SFX Modular PSU powering both PCI and Akitio Barrel Software: - Windows 10 with latest Nvidea drivers - latest intel drivers Problems and doubts: - I've disabled the controller for the dedicated K1100M. I only have the HD4600 and 970 GTX. - However, even with 970 defined as default physics , the benchmark tools (like 3dmark and unigine) still use HD4600. - I went ahead and used a HDMI cable from 970 GTX to monitor. Still, the default bench would use hd4600 - I disabled HD4600 - meaning only 970 is there - benchmark runs ok external screen. Internal screen is still on as extended (and I cant seem to find the place for disable this) In other words, what am I missing here? Windows 10 issue? - How to use my internal screen? - How to use external screen but disable extended mode? Its so weird. I'm used to configure multi displays with display port in my office and I have 4 screens. I'm felling really stupid by not finding this. Thanks!

  13. So, if you were about to build a new eGPU system, what would you do? I'm planning to keep my 780 until next year Q1 - when hbm2 is released. No real reason to buy a 970 when 780ti OC will do the same. However, this will create some power limitations. So, for now, I'm planning to buy the akitio, leave the box open and feed these fellows with a normal PSU, or even a bequiet SFX (that can handle 450W). Then, next year, I could just drop in a HBM2. I'm just wondering if 4x bandwith will start to be a limitation.... BTW, can with the PSU, I can beed both GPU + akitio correct? Do I need some adapter? - - - Updated - - - I have these to feed my led's at home! hahahah Inside my fake celing
  14. Great info! Thanks a lot Morv I went to check 780 Power and the reviews seem to show it its 400W+ I would really need an external PSU. I was thinking about getting one TFX400. Its small, modular, and gives few more power. The size will be more or less the same like Dell. There are similar solutions from BeQuiet About the Gigabyte 970 Mini.... i really had the idea it would fit!! So, is there a lit of cards that fit? Will the normal 970 fit? Or the 970 mini from Asus? Any 980 that fit?
  15. Stupid question. Sorry Tech Inferno Fan Didn't notice that one. In other words, if I want to use Akitio but keep myself portable, is there any 12V output like the dell, but with 300w for eg? Im asking it just in case I want to keep my 780 gtx until next year I don't want to take an entire PSU with me... EDIT: Just saw this one: Seasonic SS-300TFX 300W 80 Plus Bronze Its very small and delivers few extra W. I could try to mod it. What do you think? BTW, what kind of connector mods do I need for the dell? Is the dell feeding both GPU and akitio ?
  16. Can you point me out if I can use my HP 230W adapter and mod it, or if I really need that Dell adaptor? The other question is: were you using the dell to feed the akitio + graphic card? Or you had any power raiser? Or any mod of power stability?
  17. After checking some benchmarks im wondering why would I pay 700e for a Nano, to see 14k score (with OC , default is 12k as seen in Guru), when I can also get Gigabyte 970 Mini (same size) for 320e (-400e almost) and I will do 11500k score (with OC) In other words, Nano costs 2x more 970 Mini, but only delivers 1.28x more performance (OC Vs OC compare). Other thing is the Power. With 970, im able to use the Dell power correct? But Nano... I've heard about 300W spikes (avg 180W) At the moment i will start buying the things... so.....What would you buy? And BTW, I have my old Zbook 230W dockstation power supply. Can I cut the cable and convert it to 6 pin? Or do I really need to spend money on the dell ?
  18. Hum... Actually I have a HP power supply of 230W. But, do we have other solutions to use with Akitio? For eg., if I want to go with a 980Ti, can I use Akitio ? But I need a PSU? Or do we have power supplies ? Because as stated.. I might need to travel... so.. its better to fit a power supply in the bag instead of a normal PSU. Any ideas?
  19. OK by me. I also have an eBay account. Pm me
  20. Dear all , I need your help and opinion My current setup: I own a EVGA Classified SR2 Full Waterblocked chipset, 2x 5620's @ 3.8Ghz, 48GB Ram Ecc (6*8GB diims), Nvidia 780Ti. This system draws 350W idle mode, but its still much better than todays builds. My Laptop: I just got for free a Zbook 15 G2, i7 4810 + HD4600, 16GB Ram, 512 ssd, Nvidia K1100M 2Gb, TB2 port available Doubt: SR2 build is the greatest build i've had and done. I also believe that with DX12 CPU usability, i will be able to use that build 2 more years (at least). However it draws a lot of power, its not portable, and i only use it for gaming. I dont work with virtualization anymore. Its a waste to have such setup off. I only turn it on 1x per week, max. I also travel a lot and i for example at this moment im out of the country for the next 5 months. Meaning i wont be able to plug-it on at all in the next months. The company that i work for just gave me a new HP Zbook G2. I saw that Nando4 and hishamkali had the same laptop and did eGPU builds using TB2 and AkiTio Thunder2. Question: Should i sell my home PC and get an AKiTio and use eGPU? eGPU Project Material: GPU - re-use 780Ti / or / get R9 Nano? AKiTio Thunder 2 - or do you recommend other solution? I was planing to get it from these stores - AKiTiO @ format.de Distribution GmbH - https://www.cyberport.de/?DEEP=4B09-014&APID=263 Power: i have several 230 / 240W HP Laptop chargers. Can i use these? Or do you recommend me to use the Dell everyone talks here? Power Raiser: Is this needed? Mods: I saw some mods done to AKiTio board. Some simple voltage stability soldering. Is this recommended or should I tune something else? Windows 7: I could see from hishamkali thread for similar laptop that he couldn't put it working with windows7. I would prefer to keep windows 7 because this is my laptop but company at same time. So, I would prefer to avoid dual boot. Internal screen: also from hishamkali thread I could see that he had some internal screen benchmarks. I travel a lot and I have a weekend house in some other place. So, does this means I can use this eGPU solution with my own laptop internal screen? If you were able to survive until here, please leave you comment! Thank you all. Ricardo

  22. Hi, Im currently searching for those 2. I just dropped a mail to Tech Inferno Fan 2 days ago to confirm the setup before buying it. I have a Zbook g2 with TB2 (same as nando) - so , im sure the setup works. Only problem here is that you're in Georgia . Im from europe
  23. Great setup! I need the same solution. I just got a free Zbook 15 G2 - 4810M + 16GB ram + K1100M + (my own 512 SSD EVO 850) I need to build an eGPU solution for gaming. I've been reading a lot of posts and do you agree that this will be best solution: GPU - I already have 780Ti from my desktop. I hope it works (because I have a K1100M on this Zbook. Or would you propose to get a R9 Nano?) AKiTio Thunder 2 - or do you recommend other? I can see I can get it in Europe - AKiTiO @ format.de Distribution GmbH - https://www.cyberport.de/?DEEP=4B09-014&APID=263 Power Adapter: I have several 230 / 240W HP laptop adapters here in the office. Can I use one of those? Power Riser: Is this needed? Why? Mods: I saw some mods done to AKiTio board. Some simple voltage stability soldering. Is this recommended or should I tune something else? Thanks a lot to everyone
