  1. I would give it try, but unfortunately I'm having a GTX580M. Any suggestions on Nvidia control panel ?
  2. I Like my temperatures There is so much potential for raising voltage and overcklocking, but this "thing" has so much power - I don't need to 1st Run: No Overclock 3DMark Score: P3491 Graphics Score: 3236 Physics Score: 6486 Combined Score: 3176 Highest CPU: 72° Highest GPU: 63° 2nd Run [email protected] BCLK GPU@750/1500 3DMark Score: P3926 Graphics Score: 3653 Physics Score: 6881 Combined Score: 3630 Highest CPU: 74° Highest GPU: 65°
  3. And here it comes Deleted the "corrupted" one. RED ICON EDITION by Nospheratu and edited by robby_hd AlienwareOn-ScreenDisplay.zip Simply replace the old .exe with this one. For more info see my post above.
  4. I think that's a general problem with SLI and Crossfire. But Dirt 3 has lot's of problems with SLI -maybe that's the issue. I don't belive that you have a heating problem. When you reach the 100°C with your 940XM, the system simply shuts down and doesn't give you an BSOD - normally. Could be, but in my opinion this can't be the solution for frame drops. Either you have enough power for both cards and it works or you have not enough power and get a BSOD when gaming. Never heard of power problems which result into low framerates... Greetings
  5. Just an idea, but I see that you're using an OCZ Vertex 3 - which firmware are you using currently ? There are lots of BSOD problems with firmware 2.13. Maybe an update solves the problem. And/Or: Remove your backplate, look for dust at the fans and try a run with a notebook cooling pad when your backplate is removed and watch your temperatures again.
  6. mine too But I found an error in the brightness control. Maybe I'll correct it soon, if I get some free time
  7. Maybe because I'm living in Germany But to be fair with DELL: with shipping it only takes about 2 weeks, until my new notebook arrives at my home So don't worry - and beeeee happy *whistle* EDIT: See, today it's already shipped with UPS Only 3 working days reamining, until I can taste the pure power of my new Alienware, lol
  8. Still waiting for my M17x R3. Ordered on 10/06/2011, now in production. Estimated delivery date is 11/02/2011, but it's not my first Alienware so I estimate its arrive next week
  9. Just finished a red OSD Icon Theme for M17xR3 for the newest OSD Application. Simply download, unrar and replace the .exe with the one at your OSD Application installation folder (normally C:/Program files (x86)/Alienware On-Screen Display/). Run it. Should work then. For Download see my next post !!!
  10. Yeah, but the fault has to be in the notebook, because I ordered the RAM fresh from ALTERNATE and I had the issues also before I got the new RAM, so I think the RAM has to be fine. I will order a M17x with 2630QM, GeForce GTX580M and 1080p Screen and install the RAM and the SSD in it and will be happy (I hope so ).
  11. Didn't work - Booting Windows and getting a Bluescreen: Memory_Management. @mw86: Also tried both of it - overclocked and stock clocks, on both I get errors. I'm sick of this thing, contacted Dell, they will take it back and give me my money back. I will order a M17x and hope for the best. Getting a much better config for only 250€ more - I should have done this before... Greetings
  12. Yops :> Installing Win 7 on SSD right now. Maybe the new system will work fine from the start
  13. Tried Crysis 2 again - seems to work ! Loaded the optimal defaults again and played Crysis 2 for almost half an hour on stock clocks without Bluescreen - WOW
  14. Hi, running FurMark right now @ 1600x900 and MSAA: 8X. Logging the temperatures, we'll see what happens :> @Ninjahunter : Yeah, loaded the optimal defaults about 20 times - doesn't changed anything, unfortunately... After 15 minutes of Burn-In-Test @ settings as I said, I got an max. temperature of 75°C (GPU) and 88°C (CPU)
  15. Hey Guys, I have the strangest problem with my M14x that I've ever seen in my IT experienced life. I'm getting Bluescreens all the time, when I'm running 3D Applications like Deus EX: Human Revolution, Call Of Duty - Black Ops or Crysis 2. But when I run through 3DMark11 I don't get any of them ?! I changed the RAM, I checked it with MemTest86+ - nothing ! Got no errors and everythings fine. Pre-Boot-Diagnostic by Alienware says everythings fine and I pass all tests. I tried Windows 7 Home Edition 64 Bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit and Nvidia Driver 280.26, 285.27 and 285.38. Used the new Alienware Drivers and the ones, which came with it. Everywhere the same, doesn't matter, starting a game, gaming for, let's say 10 Minutes -> Crash or Bluescreen. The most common Bluescreen is System_Service_Exception 0x0000003B. Running BIOS A05 on this system: Intel i7 2630QM 3GB GT555M 8GB Kingston HyperX 1866 MHz CL11 (tried 1600MHz - same, tried only one modul - same) 500GB Seagate Momentus (getting OCZ Vertex3 MAX IOPS 120GB tomorrow - maybe that solves the problem, but don't believe it) Intel Wifi 1000 900p WLED Screen Dissassembled my M14x and attached Artic Silver 5 on CPU, GPU and GMemory, getting now highest temperatures beneath 85 degrees on CPU and beneath 70 on GPU, so there is no heating issue. Do I have to contact AW/DELL and asking for Hardware Support or has anybody an idea ?
  16. ... driver's broken, but for now I'll not fix that. Waiting for my SSD and memory and will install a fine clean new Ultimate x64 then. Greetz
  17. Tried it on stock voltage and on VMod (0.912V) - both freezes. Installed 285.27 right now and will try it again
  18. Hmmm, awkward... Crysis on 1080p @ High Settings about 25 Fps @750/900MHz But after 2 Minutes - freeze - bluescreen - restart Temperature: CPU: 68C and GPU: 68C WTF?! Could it be, that the new Nvidia driver is unstable ? Think I will try the 285.27 again...
  19. I will keep the clocks at that level And finally after 90 minutes of hard work, I attached thermal compound to CPU, GPU and GMemory. Now I have to test my temperatures. Soon I will change the RAM and add a SSD and then I think my M14x will be fine Greetz, you guys rock !
  20. Yeah sure, but 830MHz is much more than 750 MHz and I'm already using a cooling pad. I wanted to attach thermal compound to CPU, GPU and GMemory, but I have no idea how to get to the CPU ! When I open my M14x I can change the RAM, the HDD, the battery and the optical drive but which screws do I have to remove to get to the mainboard ??? I already removed all screws of that big grey plastic skid, but it didn't move a bit ?!
  21. Nvidia Driver 285.38 GeForce GT555M 3GB @ 750/900MHz Intel i7 2630QM @103.01MHz BLCK 6GB DDR3 RAM 1600MHz Seagate Momentus XT 500GB BIOS A05 (DELL Original) Getting about 50 FPS @ 1600*900 Everything set to maximum (ShadowMap Size 1024, I think even more possible via Editor) Greetz
  22. Hey Guys, I'm the new one Got my M14x last week and already tested a lot of overclocking so far. But right now I got a problem. Ran through 3DMark06 with GPU@850/1250MHz and [email protected] BLCK without any problems and scored about 16000 points. But if I run Crysis 2 with these settings, I get a nvidia bluescreen crash pretty far. I reduced the clocks to 800/1000MHz, but still the same at Crysis 2. Right now I'm running Bios AO5 with VMod@0,912V and Nvidia Driver 285.38. I don't know why GPU always crashes... did you change something else ? Maybe I have to apply thermal compound ? Don't getting it... Greetz EDIT: Think I've solved the problem. Installed old BIOS Version A05 from DELL and set the Clocks to 750/900MHz. Seem's to be OK.
