  1. @louis1978uk I used the DDU in safe mode which is much better
  2. @J95 no version (1) nvdmi.inf 344.80 then i went back to the one i was using and now its still throttling... Im going to try that one just for kicks and see what happens tho.
  3. @godfafa So i installed the driver again just to test out some of @J95 mod .inf, and now the GPU is throttling, this is weird... hmm
  4. @J95 @godfafa The nv_dispi.inf_v344.80 works great. Also ensure you are not placing a modded dispi.inf & nvdmi.inf in together, it will cause throttling, use one or the other "only" As for the windows updates causing issues, I am not experience that problem @godfafa @Peter.
  5. No joke fox, i can run crysis 3 at maximum settings with an avg of 55-65fps single 980m (and i am sure it will go higher once official support for AW is released, if ever) , SLi 980m will give you some serious future proof for gaming, lets just hope developers keep you SLi users in mind because i hate to see such a $$$ system go to waste because a developer fails to optimize for SLi.
  6. @J95 It still shows as an unrecognized card when 3DMark is ran, but it shows as GTX980M on every other ID to include device manager>hardware ID, thats weird...
  7. @J95 I made some corrections to my last post, please view again if you already did previously - - - Updated - - - Ok trying now
  8. @J95 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05801028&REV_A1 <--- that is what it showed when it could not detect the device correctly and still shows now, but i know for the R4 its .0511, so what exactly does .0580 refer to, this part i am confused on? (i assume it means PEG enabled 0580 vs 0511 being not enabled?) IDs are still PEG enabled, correct. -----Update----- I added the Eurocom modded nvdmi.inf back in (but they had it with HD graphics set to be on) the device still shows as GTX 980M but 3DMark still does not recognize it as valid, so i am hoping you can correct those strings to make it actually display my GPU in device manager without having to use HD4000 for this to show, thanks again.
  9. Wanted to share (344.80), Thanks again J95! (device manager shows as Generic pnp since i did not place the modded nvdmi.inf file in) (added Eurocom modded nvdmi.inf back device shows as GTX 980M, cant validate 3D mark score) - - - Updated - - - With HD4000 enabled. CPU temps ran a bit higher. This was with 344.75 (shows scores as valid)
  10. Will do!, also do i use the same modded nvdmi.inf i currently am using or no? (i already have the unlocked bios)
  11. Can someone MOD an Inf for my R4, thanks (win 8.1) PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05801028&REV_A1 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_05801028 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_030000 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&CC_0300 **Edit: Nevermind i figured out the problem, i had to enable the HD graphics again, alongside turning that dang signature enforcement off. What i did not realize is that it needed to be turned off everytime you restart the computer, i figured once turned off it was always off. So i permanently turned that crap off. ----------- Update When i switch HD4000 "off" my display goes back to the standard PnP monitor in device manager while just running the 980m, if there is a .Inf that corrects this please send it to me so i can update my driver, thanks.
  12. I gave up on the SLi back when it was considered "hybrid" i felt that if i paid for 2x the GPU performance, i expect it to happen... Well it still has not.
  13. @Fox, i felt the most recent Nvidia releases were a slap in the face, 780M (780M not as much) , 880M (WTF is this POS) and feel that the 980M should have been what the 880M could of been... With that being said i feel like the 980M is actually a real step up in stock raw performance and efficiency. So i feel 100% confident in that purchase, Now i just need to see Nvidia get back to releasing solid drivers to support this new tech.
  14. @Fox If this is what you: Want: Alienware ALX-18 - Core i7-5960X | Unlocked Dual BIOS | 3xGTX 980M SLI | 64GB DDR4-4266 Quad Channel| 6x1TB mSATA RAID0 | 3K IPS| 1kW AC Adapter And this is what you are thinking of: Have: Alienware M18xR2 - Core i7-3920XM | 2xGTX 980M SLI | 32GB DDR3-2133 | 2x256GB SSD RAID0 | 2x2TB HDD RAID0 | 250GB mSATA | Dual 330W AC Adapter It might be best for you to just get them 980M cards for your current system, trade in the 780M cards and hold out for another few years since that "want" system is a pipe dream at this point. with AW.
  15. I decided the lesser of the 2 evils, since i love AW systems i decided to take the day to completely wipe my system and go true UEFI for the 980M in my R4. This will buy me a few more years in hopes of Dell pulling their heads out of their a$$. As for Microsoft, they are fighting for the market share with Apple, i see the route they have taken to fit those casual PC users only makes sense in terms of capital. I would hate to see Apple take over everything, so i can understand why Microsoft is shifting to this dumbed downed OS ( i never supported Apple and never will, hell my phone is a windows phone ), but i would also like for them to consider a enthusiast version of 8.1 or even the new upcoming Win 10.
  16. LOL at this Windows 8 "mistake" in handling the CPU... maybe that's why Windows 8 lovers think it's faster than Windows 7. Good thing CPUs are ahead of their time when it comes to gaming performance. Its the GPU that needs all the extra juice it can get. So the 5% loss is no big deal for me, but i understand that you are a die hard number chaser so i can understand that hate.
  17. 1.To run the 980M (optimus disabled) with UEFI (legacy ROM Disabled) i have to convert my RAID 0 SSDs to GTP? (im using win 8.1) Edit: i guess you have to GTP the partition.
  18. I will have my 980M next weeks for my R4, which i purchased from HIDevolution. They are providing a complete upgrade kit to include the modified driver. But if anyone here has a better modded driver for their R4 that will result in overall higher bench scores ensure you link it.
  19. I'm just worried the new 17 or 18 will be locked down and non upgradable in regards to next gen hardware 800/9000 series Nvidia/AMD GPUs
  20. Yes it is compatible and it will cost you around 1400 to upgrade, not worth the 15%-20% gain unless you are an enthusiast
  21. You will need a green card first off, and with the screen purchase you will also need the correct ribbon, which there is a connection on the MOBO for it. that will set you back about 1k, good luck.
  22. This is normal in most cases, run an application such as 3DMark11 or just start a game and then quit out and it should be fine.
