  1. I have a Y410P, single GPU (GT755), running Windows 8.1 I rolled back to 2.07 from 3.05 stock then flashing the modded 3.05 bios. I then installed an Intel 7260AC WiFi card. It worked out of the box, but I installed the most recent driver anyways. I've been running it for a week now, had some windows updates, and I've also noticed a few problem with may or may not be related to the modded bios. 1. When I put my computer to sleep (not hybrid, just default sleep), it will appear to go to sleep, then it will turn back on, I can hear the fans going, but the screen doesn't come on. When I try to "wake it up" with the keyboard, mouse, or power button the screen won't come back on. I have to hard reset to get it working again. 2. I noticed after restarting my computer the first time since installing the modded bios and a couple Windows updates, that I lost my Windows licensing. Windows would ask me to activate Windows, and would say that my key has exceeded it's use limit. Either of these may or may not be related to the modded bios, but I don't think either of them could be from a Windows update either. I haven't tried rolling back to stock 3.05 or uninstalling Windows updates yet, but just wanted to let you know.
  2. Along the same vein, if you're younger and have only played Skyrim of The Elder Scrolls series, you should go back and try Morrowind (wonderful immersive story), and Oblivion. Both are great games, and I think were more fun and rewarding than Skyrim. There are mods if the older graphics turn you off.
  3. I've never had to do it on a laptop before. According to the y510p hardware manual, you can't bypass the supervisor bios password, without returning the laptop to Lenovo and having them replace the board. But you could try doing the first one on this site where you generate a backdoor password from the code it gives you after a couple invalid passwords. It doesn't require you to open your laptop. How do I clear a laptop CMOS password? Btw as far as I know the y5/410p doesn't have a CMOS battery so you can't reset it via that or a jumper.
  4. One thing to keep in mind, the cooling on these laptops are not great, at least without supplemental cooling or the fan mods. I find that while gaming, the CPU thermal throttles quite a bit before my GPU hits 100% or high temps. Even if you could replace the gpu to a more powerful card, I don't know if you'd be able to fully utilize it's power.
  5. I have the single-GPU Y410P, stock everything. So it's pretty close to the stock Y510P. Disassembly and access is easy. I repasted the CPU and GPU. I repasted with Arctic Silver MX-4. I saw no change in idle temps, and about 2C drop in CPU under load, but it still reaches the point of thermal throttle. The GPU dropped about 4C under load, but I have never used it at 100% anyways. Overall, not a big difference. I'd look into other methods of cooling along with repasting.
  6. Does the stock BIOS v3.05 supports the Intel-7260ac, if not I guess I'll have to unlock my bios.
