I've got a similar problem in that I replaced the broken GTX570M in my MS-16F2 with a 7970M (supposed to be clevo but using dell vbios), my fan speed however does not go up when the GPU is under load. I can with some trouble manually adjust it with a program manually but I'd like to have a way to have it go automatic again, as alt tabbing all the time to check temperatures is hardly much fun.

Deviltech 5700 (MS-16F2 barebone) withan Intell i7 2760QM AMD 7970M (the original 570M blew up a bit) 8GB RAM M4 Crucial 250GB SSD Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD (gotta love 2 drive bays in a 15inch laptop) and lastly a 1080p non glare screen, still has a ppi that compares to most high end stuff today!

MSI GX60 vs ASUS G750JX vs MSI GT70 One
Saph replied to John's question in What Notebook Best Fits My Needs?
I used to have a GX60 but I was constantly bothered by the fact my GPU was having much of its power wasted due to the bottlenecking CPU, I do believe it was the previous version and then it also depends on the game you're playing but still, I'd recommend spending a bit more for the alternatives. -
Would flashing this BIOS allow me to have manual control over the fan on my ms-16f2? I'm kinda stuck since my fan speed won't go up under load after successfully upgrading it with a 7970M.

So I'm trying to upgrade/repair my MS-16F2 by replacing its broken GTX570 with a 7970M. I wanted to quickly check if I'm doing this right, I already have or will soon have the following: - a Dell 7970M card - an appropriate heatsink for the 7970M from a GX60 - new thermal pads and paste - a bootable DOS USB drive with the correct 3 BIOS update files from the opening post Am I forgetting something? Will I likely need to do something to the vBIOS of the card? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.
