Finally my Lenovo G500 came back to life last night and I found HDD and WIFI pcie card had been replaced including the bottom cover where the tabs were already broke, thank god it was still honored (its warranty) So my rig was back on its initial new phase, Windows 8, Bloatware crap, No internet connectivity (tech support crappy and delayed) EXP GDC V6 new since this first of the month Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB DDR5 200W TDP Discrete Radeon 8750M had been diasbled, only intel hd 4000 was active when I received it back (an advantage!) installed an old 12.1 Catalyst Mobility Driver Rebooted, attached the mini PCIe connector, it got detected, rebooted again and voila, it work! right of the box! No error 43 in the device manager, it is detected properly since its name is RADEON 79XX tested the following games; COD MW2 COD MW1 L4D2 Tomb Raider Anniversary Splinter Cell Chaos Theory So far games were at playable FPSs, I tried them all at highest settings cause I was quite confident that the games where quite old and 3GB of GPU is such overkill but I noticed something, I was expecting FPS to be constant and stable (eg COD MW2) but it is quite choppy when looking at persons around..I wonder why Such an amazing wonderful laptop pc innovation really! I was just dreaming of this setup back in 2010 now it is a reality! Thanks to all who started this movement! especially to Tech Inferno Fan! more power to you! and to all responsible persons not mentioned, you guys know who you are! I will soon make a proper write up and documentation of this..soon
  3. Whoah alright then! Did not notice sorry! But still MXM cards vs Desktop GPUs is such an interesting debate I guess The CS Reps over at Yoybuy are doing a great job then! Heck they even refunded me like 10 or 5 bucks to my account.
  4. Maybe it was not in stock yet and you were the first to order, don't worry it will be there soon! - - - Updated - - - @Tech Inferno Fan I noticed in the yoybuy website there are new products is this the V7 EXP GDC nicknamed ARES? and MXM cards can be used via EXPRESSCARD, THUNDERBOLT, and mPCIE slots too?! here some more images on the item above; - - - Updated - - - But I think MXM form factor GPUs are too much costly versus a desktop GPU.. But that thunderbolt option is new and nice though
  5. Such an innovation! bravo! As for me, I am waiting for like half a month now for my lappy under warranty service!
  6. Yes it is possible, just start a chat with your dealer and specify that you need this item, the actual item, it comes at an extra value of 5-10 bucks and tell them to ship it together, that's what I did; ATX TO EXP EXP GDC power supply turn GDC desktop power supply wiring Item
  7. Young Turks, Yeah Breaking Bad! First time I finished all seasons for such a lengthy Drama Series..
  8. Just Cause 2 with MODS! Forgot just how fun it is for such a open world platform
  9. Really so is it that safe man? Aren't those heatsinks turning too much hot during gaming and might melt the wires? Which card are you using? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  10. Nice! A small write up of your setup will be more contributory to the community Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  11. Probably a driver issue, might be a conflict on legacy drivers vs current release, Can you try this application Display Drive Uninstaller? Then install latest AMD WQHL drivers. Just follow the instructions and let us know..
  12. Oh alrighty then! Thanks for clarifying! I was in doubt maybe my EXP GDC is faulty, the Dell power brick, or the GPU that I just bought from eBay from a rude seller that does not even reply to a single mail. Arrgh can't wait for my laptop really, and can you comment on that PCIE power cable on my setup mate? I think its too short that It can touch the cooler or the PCB at the backside, is that safe enough? for long big cards such as mine, stability is one issue to be considered to, probably an Enclosure could be a perfect complement to that and longer PCIE power cables like the PE4C V2.0 sleeved cable version..
  13. the sheer ignorance and snobbery of other tech forum sites that have announced this news is pure bliss, for real! Most noobs could not appreciate the revolution that laptops can and will utilize desktop GPUs through differenr means regardless of manufacturers blocking such attempts.. I can only smell the success of such platform in such times today. Of course nothing beats a desktop setup but Portability is another whole new Genre.
  14. alright guys while I am still awaiting for my laptop sent for warranty service, I got bored and tried my setup if it will work; Power cables are a bit short for my GPU, is my cable routing safe? Then I connected the power source, turned on the switch and voila! GPU Fans did not turn on! Will the fans spin only if it is connected via mPCIE and laptop turned on or is my 7950 needing more power? Or the Dell DA-2 is not working good? Its red light is lighted though when switch is turned on... Please help.
  15. Whoah I saw the link damn it looks sick! Its like an external gpu enclosure and boom box all together wow I do hope too it would not be that proprietary and exclusive to MSI and that laptop Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  16. Crysis 1, Crysis 3, Metro
  17. Dead Trigger 2 on mobile, gets tougher and tougher each wave!
  18. get an R9 280 if your considering the Red Camp. Best Bang of buck, more powerful if Crossfired with same GPU....
  19. BF3 and BF4 if you need to see how far your GPU can go and do, for more GPU intensive games Metro, Crysis WH, Crysis 3
  20. You're welcome, bandwidth it really does not matter since it is basically bottlenecked by connections PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0 (don't know bout pcie 3.0) Unless you will do a setup via Thunderbolt 2. For me I am using a Radeon 7950, ironically I did not yet tested it, it is a R9 280 to be exact and is rated at 250 Watts and bandwidth speed of 3XX-bit something.
  21. Buddy the keyword for GPU choice would be the TDP rating, dell da-2 is at 220 watts so you would want a card with TDP rating less than or equal to 220 watts. Hope that helps Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  22. I figured that when a big and long card is used with the EXP GDC V6, It needs to be really that strong and stable. I tried my setup last night and realized this. I will post images of my setup soon! Hence you need an enclosure with an EXP GDC setup
  23. Ah jeez! I could have ordered this along too, oh well now its 299 (quantity) your the first one to order it! Please post some images of the enclosure once it arrives to you alright buddy?
  24. Yep I already recovered all my data through this app "getbackdata" from NTFS, thank god that app worked without fiddling with command prompts and whatnot just to retrieve data. Too bad last night I had to RMA my lappy and CS Rep told it will take 2 weeks to a month depending on what was damaged in my laptop (I suspect MB or HDD fried on me). So I could not do a review on the EXP GDC V6 until my laptop will be returned so bear with me guys, I will most probably post images of my EXP GDC Package that I had received yesterday using a proper camera so that will be up soon! =)
