  1. Where do the graphics card screws go? I’ve seen a number of pictures of the inside of the Akitio Thunder2, but I haven’t been able to locate the holes for the screws.
  2. I have a friend who is able to run StarCraft 2 at Ultra graphics on a Windows machine which has a GT 640, though I guess DirectX might help with that, at least as much as Metal would.
  3. That’s great! I guess that might mean I’ll be able to play StarCraft II Legacy of the Void with Ultra graphics settings with the GT 740. That’ll be awesome!
  4. Does anybody here know if Kepler cards can use Metal, even if they're connected to a 2011 Mac? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah, it has the female PCIe connector you'll need for connecting your GPU. Though, to provide enough power for the GPU, you'll need to replace the stock power supply with a 12 volt 10 amp power supply. That will give you 75 watts of power, which is the maximum amount of power a PCIe slot can provide. If you need more than 75 watts of power, you'll need another power supply, and depending on the power supply, you'll need a 12v barrel to molex adapter. If you can't find a 12v barrel to molex adapter, you could use a molex power supply. By the way, both of the power supplies I've mentioned look like laptop power supplies, which is good for portability. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. That's because the Thunderbolt to PCIe adapter board needs power(roughly 30 watts). It also needs power to run the fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Will the graphics card work on both the MacBook’s internal monitor and a monitor which is plugged into the GPU?
  8. Upgraded 120 watt power supply? Like this: http://m.ebay.com/itm/120-Watt-12V-10-Amp-AC-Adapter-For-LP-12100-120W-12VDC-10A-Power-Supply-Cord-/400735120941?nav=SEARCH Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Okay, but where did you get the new graphics card? Nvidia doesn't sell mobile graphics cards to consumers, only to PC manufacturers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I thought the GPU and CPU of a laptop were soldered to the motherboard. How did you get the replacement CPU and GPU? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I didn't say there's anything wrong with that. Besides, I prefer Nvidia over AMD any day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Maybe you should have gone with an AMD card since that's why you're replacing. How did you even do that? Where did you even get a mobile GPU? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I noticed that in the comments section of the page containing your YouTube video regarding your eGPU, you wrote "Hi, drivers are available at nvidia. you just need to do some tweaking so it will bypass hardware and software validations”. Regarding your comment, I have a few questions: When did those drivers become available at Nvdia? Do they enable hot-plugging? Are they just for high-end cards like the GTX 780 and 970 or are they for all Nvidia cards(including GTX 650)? Are the drivers included in OS X Yosemite or are they still a separate download? What kind of tweaking did you have to do to make it so "it will bypass hardware and software validations"?
  14. Did you have to change the kext files to make the graphics card Thunderbolt-Aware/Hot-Pluggable or simply to make it work with OS X? Part of the reason why I ask is because I'll need clamshell mode to work because I play StarCraft II on an external monitor. By the way, due to cost, I won't be using a Sonnet enclosure, but rather I'll use the Firmtek Thundertek enclosure.
  15. I noticed that it looks like there's a flap on the left side of the back of the Thundertek. 1. Is that actually a flap, or is it something else? 2. Would a power cable from a PSU fit through that way?
  16. I'd like to use the Thundertek as an external graphics card enclosure. What issues did you run into?
  17. I have begun a pettion at change.org. Here's the URL: https://www.change.org/petitions/intel-allow-silverstone-and-asus-to-sell-the-asus-sg-station-2#share
