ASUSG75VW-bad graphics/ Nvidia update 314.07.....
Insanity_One replied to scanderson's topic in ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum
In a situation like this, when the laptop will not even POST, it seems like an RMA might be the only way. ASUS's RMA process for laptops has always worked smooth in the past so no worries. But you just never know, it could be something as simple as the BIOS chip going bad. -
$0 spent and -10/-7 Celcius (G75VW)
Insanity_One replied to iamtuck3r's topic in ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum
There are no exact numbers out there (unless you dismantle the laptop and search the fans model number) but according to the rog forums the fans on the G75 series max out at around 4000rpm. -

Cracking BIOS for an G75 running Windows 8
Insanity_One replied to The Messian's topic in ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum
I'm having the same apprehensions myself, but just as Shoco said, check that thread for the guide and everything should go well! Can you report back with any progress though? How did the modded bios work for you? Did you end up getting the overclock you wanted? -
ASUS G75VW vs Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (AC4)
Insanity_One replied to amirhuman's topic in ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum
Sorry for the extremely late post, but if you check around these forums some more now that we are 3 months into the future, many threads about overclocking have popped up here and there. But I recommend starting with the "modded vbios" thread. That will be your best (and safest) bet to get a quick and easy performance boost out of your G75. -
Wow this sounds really interesting... I've heard of overclocking the Korean IPS panels (1440p etc.) but never overclocking a laptop panel... I might have to try this for myself! Thanks for sharing!

[G75VW] - modified BIOS & VBIOS for higher overclocking
Insanity_One replied to svl7's topic in ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum
I know this is kind of reviving an older thread. But I am just curious as to whether or not heat is an issue with the "overclocked" version of this modified bios? Do I need an external cooling unit to run that bios or will I be fine without one? Because I would definitely like to the the 223 v2 modded bios on my G75vw (660m version) to see if it fixes some issues I've been having! And maybe gain a few FPS in some games along the way. -
Do you have the GTX 660m model or the gtx 670m model? I am curious as to how it will run on my GTX 660m model G75vw as well.

I was under the impression that CPU overclocking was not easy (or near impossible) unless you have one of the unlocked models like the I7-3920xm/3940xm?

The only real limiting factors on upgrading the G75vw (as I have been looking into it myself) are the GPU and the CPU. It will indeed support as much RAM as you can pack into it. But it will only support certain CPUs (Socket G2) and GPUs. The GPUs are specially shaped and designed to fit inside of the G75's chassis. So the best you can upgrade to it the GTX 670m from the 660m. I've heard it is a good set-up in performance, and at onl around $300, it wouldn't be a huge hit to the wallet.
