  1. Hello from Saint Louis, MO. I just recently got into the gaming laptop world. I have always built desktops. I am looking forward to modding my Y510P and getting maximum performance out of it as well as swapping my terrible wifi card.
  2. WHile this game has many issues it is still very fun to play. It hasn't been crashing on me much lately if at all. THe odd glitches are noticeable but as long as it is crash free i love it. Dice really needs to get it straight, but do not let these issues keep you from buying it on sale. It is worth it. It also runs very well now even on weak systems. i have the y510p and even with SLI disabled (running on one gt 750m oc +135 core and +400mhz memory) i can run it on medium settings @1080p with post processing at medium and ssao on. I get a solid 40+ fps at these settings. With sli enabled i get 60+ and can easily run it on high still getting in the 50 fps range. the anti-aliasing is what kills these cards since they only have 128bit memory bus.
  3. Also, repasting the ultrabay GPU is very easy and should bring temps down quite a bit. Just make sure you have a small screwdriver that fits well as the screws strip easily. Here is a picture filled post showing the disassembly from octiceps http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/3310-pictures-disassembled-y500-ultrabay-gpu.html
  4. sorry i'm a bit late to the party but what i do with my Y510p is take two ping pong balls and push in opposite sides of them to make a flat surface on each side...well actually i guess it's a cupped surface. then i took some tape and placed it on one side of the ping pong balls. i then put one under each rear rubber foot of the laptop. this lifts the rear of the laptop up and allows cool air to get underneath more easily. When i am gaming i run a small deskfan pointing under the rear of the laptop and my main gt 750m never goes overr 75c and the ultrabay one never goes over 80c. My 4700mq reaches 85c max. it's a cheap alternative to a laptop cooler and i actually like it better because it doesn't raise the entire laptop up so it's still comfortable to game on while using the laptop keyboard.
  5. Hope I am not to late to the party but have you looked at Eurocom laptops? They have a 10% off deal which i think is still going on. Eurocom Corporation - Number 1 in Desktop Replacement Notebook Technology make sure you change the currency to USD before you start to cusomize the laptop as once you change the currency it completely resets your build. EUROCOM-GLJ-RA2-131215 (10% off code)
  6. I have the Lenovo Y510P and it is very quiet. Even when gaming with bith gt 750m in sli it is still relatively quiet. It also packs as much punch as a GTX 770m as long as the game supports SLI. Most do nowadays. Get it on sale and you will be very happy. Only issue i have is the wifi card is a bit lame but if you disable the whitelist on the laptop you cna swap wifi cards. got mine with i7 4700mq, gt 750m sli, 8gb ram etc for $680 open box from newegg.
