Tring to get info from Dell is awful. Had three people tell me that the card is not changeable because its a laptop. But they will sell the heat sink for $25. Going to wait awhile and try again hope for yet another person who might know something.

Cool. Really want to do this especially now that I got the screen issue worked out. (thank you again) But realized how blind I went in doing. Since I have the unlocked bios might as well keep it in there now. Was going to try the card a while ago, glad i didnt but hopefully with the new models being out the 680m might drop a bit. Also, anything I should be looking for when purchasing this card? dont want to miss something small but vitally important when upgradeing like I did my screen. From my udnerstanding the green 680m's are clevo and the Blue are dell. other then that I do not have any idea what to look for.

I noticed. The performance on a lot of my games dropped about 30% when I use 3D and it drooped a bit when it went up to the 1080p but not to much. 3D gaming makes a rather large hit to fps though. hoping to get the 680m come fall just making sure I cover all the bases so I dont run into the same issues I did with my screen. Just so everything is right Dell 680m is green and the clevo is blue correct? And I am assuming that the clevo wont work 3D and the 4g over the 2gb on the two versions of the 680m doesnt matter (atleast what I have been told) Edit. Even the crazy over prices on ebay have the heat snk at about $65. Just going to go ahead and get a correct one. Hope I can find one when the times comes from somewhere else but doubt it. With the unlocked bios I shouldnt have any issues swapping out the cards correct? I know they are both MXM and both meant for this system just making sure there isnt something I am missing in my newbness.

Well got the screen installed. Works and looks great no issues at all and HDMI-In is working fine. (even though Nvidia said it wont) Next on to digging up info for a 680m upgrade. tahn k you for all your help without you I am sure that I still would not know what the heck was going on.

Is it same for the R3 and R4? Noticed after my recent screen upgrade how big of a hit performance takes compaired to my old one. So definitely looking to get the 680m hopefully in spring.

Issues with shipping around christmas. Was wondering if anyone has already been using the 3D screen and if they have any issues with HDMI-In?

For a while I have been on the fence for screen upgrade to 1080 3D or upgrading my 660m. After some thought I figured "Screen has to be easier to get working!" After I made that ell thought out idea. (Found Here: Need help with screen upgrade. - Page 2) I figure I better start asking some questions before I go and do something stupid again. Was wondering what you guys have/have seen put into a M17X R4. Was not planing on going higher then a 680m but want to make sure to stay pretty future proof for atleast a couple more years. Also want to stay Nvidia do to the recent 3D upgrade. Dont plan on doing this until at least spring. And already have the unlocked bios flashed in. So any suggestions or warnings? Also if 680m turns out to be the way I go I have been getting mixed responses for me to need a new heat sink or not.

He said he is taking it off of a 3D R4 that they have been trying to sell as a whole. I Flash Sir svl7's unlocked a10 bios but this laptop was originally only the 900 screen. But with the Samsung monitor and unlocked bios I shouldn't run into any issues correct? I didn't realize the major firmware differences from desktops to laptops and realize now how ignorant I am on the subject. I am more of a software kind of person (Malware removal/repair) and I am realizing quickly how far up the level of you guys are. Sorry for being such a newb cramping up your forums but the help is greatly appreciated.

No go still the same issue. But looks like I am getting the Samsung panel sent to me so maybe that will fix it. Tried chaning it to 60hrz and lower res as well but that didnt do anything.

Awesome thought I had a copy of 331 installer already downloaded but tring that now and I will let you know. I didnt know there was a clean install program floating around (come to think of it JV16 probably would have done it). And I guess the guy who sold it to me is tearing down a R4 to send me the right model now. Guy is tring supper hard to avoid bad review on ebay,

yea the display defaulted to PEG. This turned out to be ALOT of work to loss functionality and gain nothing of note. Yes the screen looks SOOO much better. But do to my living situation atm, I do not have access to my TV. I have been using my laptop as my display for my PS3 and 360. Ever since the upgrade when I try to use my HDMI in my screen goes black. I dont really do alot of console gaming lately (Darn Steam and releasing FF7 and FF8). But that is how I get on and keep in touch with everyone I sued to work with a friends of mine because we all work retail and don't live close so noone ever has the same days off. Any chance you know why that would stop working?

The person I bought it from is saying that I do not have the settings in the BIOS right. I flashed the unlivked a10 bios disabled internal graphics and set lcd to the only 1080 option and still nothing.

I flashed my m17x r4 to the unlocked a10 bios. The reasoning is that I upgraded my screen from the 1200x900 to the 1080 120hrz 3d panel. I was told I needed to change advance video options to PEG. But they was already set to PEG and nvidia control panel is still not showing my screen as stereoscopic. Does anyone have any ideas on what to try next? I am at a loss. - - - Updated - - - the actuall application is prr2.exe run that it will tell u ready to flash then run ...flash

Final Fantasy 8 just came up on Steam.

Been looking at this for a while and played the beta but it wasnt for very long. I was working a lot of over time when it was open and didn't get much time on it. Oddly enough I was someone who really enjoyed FF11 so I was thinking about jumping on and checking out FF14. I was just wondering if anyone else here has givin it a shoot or what you think. They went through and upgraded the entire game and recently released a new version "A Realm Reborn". Seems pretty cool from the BETA. Changing jobs are so post to be able to be done anywhere now instead of needing to go back to your house, there is a adventure log that gives you task like kill 5 of these these and these and get a EXP boost. Also Chains can be done solo now if you kill more then two enemy's in a short amount of time. Was hoping to find someone else who had some time into it to see if it was any good.

I removed the batterys help power button down reinserted batteries plugged it in turned it on, it beeped 5 times and I held power button down shut it down and turned it on again booted fine into windows. Had the chime like new hardware was detected but nvidia control panel still not giving me steroscopic options.. I have the 331 drivers and the a12 bios. really dont understand why this is being so difficult. --- The camera and mic are working, screen displaying fine (much better looking then old one) and the system seen the ir emitter and installed the drivers for it. I am also having some issues with the HDMI-in. When I try using it it shuts of my monitor, if I have my second one plugged in it makes that my primary and leaves my laptop display turned off. But I get options for stereoscopic on my secondary monitor but my secondary is not 3d. When I try to set it up it says it didnt install correctly and when I open nvidia control panel then unplug HDMI-in so my latop monitor goes back to normal it says it cant set up a non stereoscopic display and removes option from nvidia control panel.

I know the cables are connected in the right spot, didnt pull the cmos battery. Going to try that know if this works ill let you know thank you.

I dont know what you mean here. I also need to downgrade bios and dont really know to much about flashing bios. So can you go up to a13 the just flash the modded one? I am at a12 didnt know there was a a13

I am running into a simulair issue with tring to upgrade my monitor to 3D. I am a bit worried about trying a modded bios to be honest but I dont have to many options at this point. from everywhere I was looking it was sopost to just be some driver updates. But honestly with the 680m, there is not to much better your able to go. The 680m is a pretty darn good card I wouldnt worry about upgrading for a while.

I am tring to upgrade my screen to 3d on my m17x r4. Amd having issues with the laptop not seeing screen as stereoscopic. Anyone have any ideas? I have done all the updates. Running into a few issues. When I try to use my HDMI-in then the screen turns off. And nvidia control panel is not seeing my monitor as stereoscopic. Anyone have any ideas on what to try I have been doing updats like crazy for 2 days.
