can someone unlock the new bios A12 for the Alienware 18 for those who have a hardware flash utility?

Should be compatible but you have to flash the vbioses provided from dell.

Thats the right vbios for alienware 18 with gtx 980m's. But i'm not 100 % sure that this vbios will fit on clevo cards so please ask PREMA.

Thats right but NVIDIA realeased new gtx 980 cards which are not the same cards as the gtx 980m's.

the gtx 980 cards are much bigger and have an other pcb

Do you have an alienware M18X R2 too?

NVIDIA has annouced the new gtx 980 for laptop. Any idea when will it be officially released? Do you think the alienware 18 will be capable of running these monsters in sli? I have enough money for a pair of gtx 980m but is it better to wait and invest in this new graphic card ? They said the performance will be on par with the desktop version so it would be awesome to have these graphic cards running in sli.

The recent versions of the gtx 980 notebook edition aren't mxm standart size. Probably cards in mxm size will come in the future because msi probably wants to upgrade their gt80 with 2× gtx 980 notebook gpu's

i was wondering about whether it is possible to flash the BIOS from the new alienware 18 (2015) on the alienware 18 (2013) model because they changed not many things i think.

Probably we can get "official" support for the Maxwell cards on the alienware 18 (2013) edition?

I don`t think that it is as easy as it sounds but probably an option?

I think the card work in your notebook but you have to flash the modded vbios from svl7.

But if you want to go sure ask svl7.

I'm not sure because the gtx 670m is a femi card and the gtx 770m is a kepler card. I would buy a new heatsink for your machine.

Yes thats possible. i flashed my gtx 680m's from dell several times with the modded vbios from svl7.

Hmm thats very difficult. I would ask svl7 if the card work in your machine. What gpu is currently installed?

Just for grins and giggles I have a 770m GTX trying to get it to work on the R3 and R2.

With the R2 I am find it dose not even power up the monitor.

On the R3 it get through the post but dies after Windows Logo.

Dose this card need a reflow? Tried the modded bios with no luck on either box.

Also tried disabling the IGD....and a few other suggestions on this board.

Hey i'm not sure but you have to disable the soundcard in your R3 to get the gtx 780m to work.

But first you have to flash the unlocked bios for your machine!

Please do a cmos reset. That solved my issue. Then boot into bios and load the optimized defaults.
