  1. Please @Prema i really appreciateyour work and would like to see an vbios for the alienware 13...
  2. Hello guys, I would like to see a modded vbios for the gtx 960m. I know that the vbios had to be extracted out of the bios and probably @Prema can help us to use the full potential of our alienware 13.
  3. You have to do 5 useful posts in this forum to be allowed to download attached files
  4. We have to use an bios prpgramming utility to flash the bios chip because of the new secure flash included in the new alienware 18...
  5. You can't use the dual psu mod on new alienware 18 notebooks because of power limit!
  6. Hey you can use nvflash. Instuctions are easy to find online.
  7. Hello, This should be the right vbios for your slave card to run as primary card. But i can't guarantee it! http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/109727/alienware-hd3870x2mobility-512-080829.html
  8. I have talked to svl7 and he meant that it isn't possible to unlock power limits on new aw 18 even with an unlocked bios.. we have to mod something on the motherboard. I can probably ask him whether it is possible to control the fans in another way like HWINFO.
  9. Did you try DDU and do a clean driver install? Please install the driver with driver signation disabled in windows!
  10. Probably the Heatsink is old and faulty. Another option is repasting the gtx 880m or downclock it a little bit. Also you can use Fan control.
  11. If you have overclocked 7970m the performance would improve a little bit but not with stock clocked cards.
  12. 86c is totally normal for this card. The gtx 880m is known for running very hot
  13. The gtx 880m gets very hot under load. Your temperatures are a high but not critical. I would repaste your gpu. do you use a 100w heatsink for the gtx 880m in your aw 18?
  14. You have to install the driver with disabled driver signature enforcement! That might be the problem.
  15. You aren't right. There exists two versions with different pcb's of the gtx 980. One has 180 watts tdp and the other one has a 200 watts tdp. I receaved information that even the 180 watts tdp card won't fit in the new alienware 18 although the pcb of the card looks like standart mxm pcb like gtx 980m. But yes the aw 18 heatsinks can't cool a card like this.
  16. I personally think that the gpu is defective.
  17. Probably the card didn't run at max. Clocks without ac connected. If you underclock the card for 50 mhz it might be solved.
  18. Probably you try to underclock the card with nvidiainspector. That could help.
  19. Okay.. these temperatures are normal. did you try to do an clean install of your graphics driver?
  20. Can you tell me the graphics card temperature under load? Many people with the same problem had too high temps. best regards!
  21. But in case for people who want to flash their bios chips with such a tool there is no unlocked bios for the alienware 18 available.. Probably @Mr. Fox , @svl7 or @Prema could have a look on the bios files?
  22. Please explain why you want to flash the cards? In case of the black screens after 5 min. gaming? Edit: what error of kernel power exactly? (41, etc....)
  23. Yes thats right. It is exactly the same model as the Alienware 18 from 2013/2014 only with new gpu's. Alienware released the new A12 BIOS for them to make an upgrade available for the older Alienware 18's (2013/14). If you flash the A12 BIOS the old Alienware 18's are able to handle the maxwell cards (970M/980M). Thats the only difference i noticed. Best regards!
  24. Hello, What pc do you want to buy instead of the Alienware M18x R2? Do you want to stay with Alienware or want to buy a Clevo based machine? The old Alienware M18x R2 has some advantages which the new one hasn't! For example you can flash an unlocked bios or do an dual psu mod to bypass the power throtteling. In fact i would stay with your alienware and upgrade it with two new gtx 980m's. I hope that i can help you with your decision
