  1. This is what I feared :/ Certainly @svl7, I just sent you a pm with my original BIOS
  2. Great, thanks for your support @svl7, first of all. My original BIOS was 8.0, but by now I have to admit that I am only 80% sure of that (I read so much stuff within the last 6-7 hours to fix this problem) I followed your page 1 tutorial for 8.x BIOSes. Still have my backup made within the tutorial. I had to use the Error 104 fix while dumping the backup, and also while flashing in DOS mode. Dump and flash went flawlessly with the fix. I then rebooted and got stuck with the black screen. I tried several approaches from this thread, but with no luck at all (blindly resetting BIOS, 30sec Power button for the CMOS reset etc.) Hm, that's all I can think of, if you need any more information, let me know.
  3. Nope, no POST at all. I can't figure what else this should be. I entered the flashed BIOS the first time it booted up, looked through all the menus quickly, and then shut down the laptop (had to leave). So I have no idea whether it would have successfully booted into windows if I havent had entered the BIOS. But now I have no access to whatsoever. Blindly resetting didn't work at all. So I guess this has to be the BIOS. (As mentioned above, fn+r for entering recovery via USB works, but that's it) @svl7: Any chance you could help me out? Any ideas, or maybe an original 8.0 BIOS file that I can flash? I've tried everything mentionend in this thread so far, but with no luck. I can only confirm that only QIWY4.bin/rom flashes on my laptop (~6MB filesize, my original backup from the tutorial with ~4MB does not flash, USB only blinks) Thanks in advance
  4. I flashed the 8.01 from the first post. Booted up fine for one time, when I came back home and turned it back on, the black screen appeared. Edit: @svl7 if you have the time and would help me via iRC / IM just tell me, I'll be right there.
  5. Floare Cosmin, would you mind sharing where you found the original BIOS file? Or the post from svl7 you are referring to?
  6. Ok got it. But now I have a big problem, mentioned a few times in this thread before. - Black screen, no POST at all, no booting to Windows Resetting the BIOS does not work at all. Strangely the laptop booted up once just fine, the next time the black screen appeared. QIWY3/4 etc does not work. Isn't there any original 8.0 BIOS file with a correct filename that can be flashed? I can successfully enter the flash-mode (fn+b, fn+r), but the system just keeps looking for the correct file - also mentioned before. @svl7: I hope you can help out here, as there are numerous people with these problems :/ At the moment my laptop is a brick, and that is bad, since I need it in the morning for work (it's only 2 days old). I hope anyone can pick this problem up, it's been around quite a while from what I've read in this thread. Thanks in advance guys,
  7. The fix for the "Error 104" is not available anymore, could someone fix this? Thanks in advance!
  8. Hi my name is LilaQ, I am from germany and have been reading quite a few bit here. My newest purchase of a Lenovo Y580 brought me here a few days ago, and somehow, I have kept reading ;-)
  9. Have you checked if the signal is better while your laptop is right next to the router? Because this is a problem where a large amount of causes can come into play. You have to narrow it down.
  10. Hey guys, I just bought a Lenovo Y580, but the Intel WiFi adapter ist not working with MacOSX (Hackintosh), so I have to swap it. Does anyone have a clue which adapter is the best for Linux and MacOSX? Must be PCIe and be able to use monitor mode in linux OOB Thanks in advance, LilaQ
