  1. Yes, the Y410p should have Optimus option enabled unlike Y400p. And from what I remember when we compared the Y400 and Y410p have same chassis for the most part (at least around the screen). I'm hoping for a 900p or 1080p option that I can modify my Y400 in the future (hopefully, matte screen). We will see.
  2. I bought the Y400 and my brother bought the Y410. Here is a side by side comparison of the two for anyone who has trouble deciding between which to purchase. Hope this helps some folks out! - Ivy bridge on the y400, Haswell on the y410p - Single 750m GPU on both, quit good, can play Battlefield 3, Skyrim, etc... - 5 pound weight (approx) - Screen is glossy, not anti glare - Trackpad is funky at times, some suggest disabling multi-touch - 1366x768 resolution for Y400, if you want higher resoluation 1600x900 go for the Y410 - Intel GPU is disabled on the Y400, but is not disabled on the Y410, which could help with battery life - Msata port on the Y400, versus the NGFF port for the Y410...NGFF parts are much more pricey currently - 14 inch models dont have SLI, but you can upgrade later - 2-4 Hour battery life, a little longer on the Y410 due to switchable graphics in my experience - VERY good audio quality on both Y400 and Y410 - Lenovo Y series are in general the best bang-for-buck laptops out there, but you probably already knew that - The power adapter for Y400 are about 2/3 size of the y500/y510p series - Carbon finish instead of Aluminum finish for the 14 inch between Y400 and Y410 - Backlit keyboard on all models of Y4XX and Y5XX
  3. Fellow Lenovo Owners, I was wondering if anyone in Tech Inferno forums has tried ahem "Hackintoshing" your Lenovo Y400/Y500. I'm not a huge Mac OS X fan but my wife loves Mac OS X. So I was wondering if any you ladies and gents out there have any good tutorials for trying this in my Lenovo Y400. I found a few different articles and the best one I found thus far is this one: The Best Lenovo Hackintosh Laptop of 2012 First, can anyone verify if this would theoretically work? Second, has anyone tried this mod themselves? Any tips or advice to point me in the right direction would be appreciated!!!
  4. Could a few people who installed the 7260 AC card report back findings? I am looking to upgrade my wifi card to the 7260 after doing the whitelist mod. I'm hoping I get my privilege to download the zip files soon (mod please hear my plea!). But yes, any finding would be appreciated! Its between the 7260 for me or the 6235.
  5. Would this work with the y400/y500 series? Or only for Z580? This would be great if it did work across multiple laptops. Thanks!
  6. I have the Plextor 128 GB ssd. And that works really well with my y400 set-up. Hope that helps.
  7. Thank you for posting the y500...does anyone with a y400 have a similar pictures? Or is the y500 almost identical and y400 pics are unnecessary? Thanks!
  8. I'm also getting a Plextor 128GB MSATA SSD soon...could you post your boot times? And any tips on running the plextor? Did you flash your bios too?
  9. I can't wait to try this flash! I'm getting a y400 from Ebay in the next week. I was conflicted for like a week debating whether to get the y400 or y410p but I think I'm glad I chose the y400...the y410p has no modded bios yet!!! Also, I'm still an amateur at flashing bios...I've only done it once before and that was way back when...but does anyone have any recommendations on 3rd party wwan/wlan cards for the y400? I'm guessing that its a huge plus to use your own choice...I just don't know whats good for the price. Any recommendations would be appreciated feel free to respond back or PM me thanks!
