I heard from Lenovo chat that the 650m laptops support a 750m in the ultrabay but not the other way around.

I use classic start and windows 8 works just like 7 for me. I find the right side menu a little annoying but I haven't look in to how to disable those.

For what it's worth, in the Lenovo machines I've disassembled, I've noticed the small amount of threadlock but it seems to hold great.

I think a lot of people get caught on this. When you improve the cooling system with thermal paste, the system fan speeds reduce. This nets you the same temps you had before usually. The fans automatically speed up or slow down to maintain the noise level and temperature, so without manual fan speed control it is difficult to measure the effectiveness of new thermal compound or a cooling pad.

It all depends on the original thermal paste job. A lot of times it isn't the paste but the actual tightening of the heatsink.
