So i use your unlocked bios and which file do I rename M17R4.hdr? Also do I leave the cmos battery out during the whole procedure?

No Dell is not coming till next week board is on backorder till the 17th (I wonder why). I will attempt Brians method and report back.

Brian I have flashed the bios on my R3 several times without a problem and the flash never took more than 3 minutes. Are you saying if I had left the computer running indefinitely it would have restarted with a successful flash? Actually I think I left it running more than 10 minutes because I went out to the garage and had a smoke.Also I don't have a clue how to recover a bad flash and would very much appreciate if you could tell me how.Thanks

I just unzipped the file then ran the INSYDEflash exe, it started to work then the screen went black and both fans got really loud. After about 10 minutes I shut it off. I took the cmos battery out for about 1/2 hour. When I put the battery back and started it up the keyboard and all the lights lit up but I had a black screen and 1 continuos beep.Theres no way I can recover the mobo is bricked. I'm just wondering if having Enduro off during flashing caused the problem.

Well I tried to flash to svl7's unlocked A05 last night and bricked my machine for the 2nd time. Fotunately I have a great tech supervisor,his name is Jose Hernandez. They are sending a tech out with another board and graphics card. He said he was going to be talking to some engineers about why so many guys are bricking thier mobos when flashing the bios. Does anyone know a way to flash the bios that's less risky than the normal way? Thanks Oh I forgot to ask,whenever you flash the bios with a 7970M should you have Enduro on?

:83:Well I must be unusually unlucky cause I bricked 2 mobos flashing to A05. Screen went black during flash and that was it.Waiting on a replacement now.The machine went into production on 8/1. I called tech support yesterday and I got an Indian who told me that it was scheduled to ship on 8/7 but the Costa Rican guys said theres nothing about a scheduled ship date.I didn't realize how addicted I am to my AW going nuts on my wifes studio xps

Long 2905, I bricked my mobo flashing to A05 also. The tech tried to talk me into sending it into the Dreaded Depot but I refused and 2 days later a tech came to my house and replaced the mobo and graphics card which I didn't even need.

Well the tech guy came out this AM and replaced the mobo and graphics card.I bricked my mobo Saturday while flashing to the A05 Bios.The computer shut down before completing the flash then I got lights and 1 beep. I've heard of several R4 owners having the same problem when updating the bios.Any way the manager I spoke with on Sat. was really very nice and offered to send me a replacement after I refused to send it in to the Dreaded Depot. I didn't want to wait 3-4 weeks so he said he'd send out a mobo and graphics card with the agreement that if anything else breaks on this machine he's sending me a replacement.

Since I got this computer I've had the mobo replaced twice,the LCD display once, AC adapter once, the graphics card 3 times.Yesterday my mobo bricked again. Am I eligible for a replacement and will it be a new one? I doubt it would be a refurbished cause the R4 is so new.

So you switch back and forth to the ov'd vbios when gaming or benching and use the stock vbios for just surfing etc?

Right now I have my 7970m voltage set at 1.075 and stock clocks at 900/1300. On my my usb stick I also have the stock voltage and clocks.My question is, can I use the ov and oc when I'm benching and then flash back to the stock vbios? I only ask because I bricked a card and now am a little hesitant to ov the new one Dell replaced.Will changing back and forth damage the card? Thanks

Hi guys I'm having a problem with my month old R4. When I start the computer it gets to the Alien head and then 8 beeps and shuts off. I called Dell and explained everything; he was quite nice by the way,and he's sending a tech out to install a new system board and display screen. I reinstalled W7 and everything is fine now except I can only run on integrated graphics.In device manager I have the 7970M disabled but if I enable it and reboot there's a message in the general tab of the 7970 saying "Windows could not load the device because it reported a problem Code 43" Anyone could give me some advice? Could it be the graphics card? The ATI is showing up in the bios along with the Intel 4000.

At stock Cpu and Gpu I got 5986 on 3dMark11 and I remember reading on "that other forum" that someone got around the same with a 680M. Widezu would probably know the exact score.Congrats on your new card mw86! It's a real beast isn't it? Has anyone heard from GeoCakes lately?

Make sure you have the correct heatsink and backplate if and when you decide to get it

Hi guys. When I go to computer/properties (where it shows your WEI) it says 16Gb Ram 3.27 usable.So I thought I might have a bad stick so I started to remove a stick at a time.After removing the first one I checked and it said 12Gb Ram.So I put a stick of 4Gb Samsung and it said 16Gb Ram.I called Amazon and they sent me a new stick of Corsair Vengeance.I installed it and again it said 16Gb Ram 3.27 usable.Took it out and put the Samsung back in and it said 16Gb Ram.What the heck is goin on here? Anyone got any suggestions? If the slot was bad then why would the Samsung stick work?

Well I bit the bullet and ordered an R4.Specs are 3820Qm,6Gb 1600,AMD 7970,500Gb HD.I sold my r3 and the 2960Xm seperately.I kept the Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz and the Corsair Performance Pro 256Gb SSD.Thinking about getting a 3920XM ES but I read that they run very hot when OC'd so I'll have to give it some serious thought.ETA 6/1
